As cool as my job can be, it's always nice to be HOME! I am back home for 5-7 days of needed R&R. I flew into Calgary and hung out with some of my fellow CT4WD'ers for a day and stopped by the The Gear Shop (CT4WD's official retail offroad shop - CBI, AllPro, Shrockworks, Gerber, Walker Evans, Fox, TJM, ARB, Nemo Tents, CVT RTT's, to name a few of the brands they are carrying....). Needless to say, I didn't leave empty handed:
Finally, something actually vehicle related and build thread worthy! Thanks for hooking me up with a killer new winch Nate!

Well, it's going to go somewhere in here (sorry, iphone pics):
I have cut the hoops and "bull bar" section off of the ARB and was toying with keeping the factory bull bar portion somehow incorporated into the new design. I think I am going to have it set up similar to whats above but still lower the cross bar another inch or so. Then, pretty much a whole new center section for the ARB. The TJM is going to be homeless for another month or two.
True that! Finally stepping up to the big boys. haha

Good choice, that was one of the best things you could have spent your money on. I wheeled without a winch for a couple years, now that I have one I wouldn't go wheeling with out it. It's gotten me out of way too many situations!
I also look forward to seeing what you do with the bumper, don't forget to leave room for a LED light bar!

Yah Dirtco, I'm long overdue on the winch. I was thinking of putting it off for some UCA's (front and rear) but decided now was the time. I kick myself everytime I go out and need a recovery.... from someone else! haha
RE: LED light bar - you took the words right out of my mouth.... I'm thinking a TRS 22" should fill the gap in the ARB nicely.

Are you going to have your winch exposed to the elements like Blcktpgsr? I'll be honest, I think that looks way cool like the bumper is "showcasing the winch" as in Blcktpgsr's words. I always liked the Armorology bumpers they have on their website, but I think I personally would like to keep a winch as much out of the elements as possible. I'm sure they can take a beating, but correct me if I'm wrong wouldn't it be beneficial to have it enclosed in the bumper?

I've been keeping my comments to a minimum, but I've been reading every update. Great pictures/content as always! The job up in the Yukon has shaped up to be an awesome adventure, and just the time spent flying around in the heli's has probably made it more than worthwhile.
Congrats on the new winch. I think you'll be the first guy on the forum running the TJM product. You do know we'll be expecting one of your excellent product reviews, don't you?
Can't wait to see what you do w/the ARB. Stay safe up there man, watch out for wolves. (I just watched a movie called "The Grey", and now country like that reminds me of ravenous packs of killer wolves.)

Honestly I was thinking the same thing on your end. I have been watching the updates to your most recent build thread (I think it's your 4th T4R??? Soo many I cant keep track.... which is a GOOD thing! lol) as well as some of the smaller details coming together on your truck. Just sitting back and taking in all of your attention to detail and good information. Outstanding work as usual.
After that wolf snuck up on me, I immediately thought of that movie. The wolf looked pretty much identical to the black wolf in that film... I was terrified. haha Not to mention, I think they filmed that movie pretty close to where I was working.... kind of surreal.
I'll keep everyone posted on the TJM. As for the bumper, I'm at a crossroads. I would love to hack up that ARB and truly had plans to do so, until I realized that the bumper has a decent twist in it. I knew the PO absued it pretty hard but I'm worried it might not be worth dumping money for fab work, sand blast, and re-powdercoat into a bumper that isn't quite straight. That being said, I've REALLY been considering pulling the trigger on a CBI front or ODL. ODL being a little more reasonably priced, CBI being a slightly better looking IMO. decisions, decisions......

FACEPALM! I forgot about your wolf encounter! I just went back and re-read that post, and I see you mentioned that movie @ the time. Let's just say everything about your adventure says: "Hey, shouldn't there be a wolf in here somewhere?"
I would have freaked out too man. I had an experience with a pack of coyotes on a hunting trip one time that has made me permanently leery of wild canine predators. Considering how that one snuck up on you, it kind of makes you wonder why.
I checked out the wheeling pics... sick as always, and RE the bumper, I don't think you can go wrong either way w/those two choices.

hahaha, I'm just hoping I don't see any cougars on my next outing... that would have me really freaked out.

I 2nd that. A lot of my free time is spent trouncing through forests where people haven't been in ages. We come across all sorts of bear craps and random dens. Running into a big cat though is my number one fear.
Haven't chimed in myself for a while either, but hopefully you know how killer I think all of this is! I just need to say one thing though. I hate you! I think the heli is the single greatest mode of transportation and the top that off with being in some gorgeous country? Jealous doesn't even begin to describe my feelings!

Lol, yes! I haven't updated this thread in a while.... I got back from the Yukon and headed out to BC for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Hung out with family and friends and caught up on some needed R&R. My parents just finished building their new "cabin" and it's pretty epic. I had some free time out there yesterday and did a mini-shoot with the 4Runner. Lighting wasnt perfect but got a couple decent shots. Check em:

Now regarding the bumper.... well your just going to have to wait until after this weekend. I may be installing it tomorrow along with my winch and I may be going wheeling this weekend to "test" it all out.
Is it just me, or is dark markers and grille the tits?
I like this look better than the blacked out ones (in general).
Where's the projectors? Your thread almost has me sold on copying you. Now the grille and markers? ugh..
I do think to "repeat it" you'd have to have black wheels though.. That I do not have.
