Your probably right. Soon I shall see. I also got a matching 5th wheel for the swing-out I'm getting built in the spring - it's gunna look so purdy up there, all shiny like.

I was looking through my computer the other day and stumbled across these couple photos. I'm not sure I ever shared them. It's funny because this is right around the 1-Year anniversary of my trail damage incident. Thought I'd share as I am now emotionally stable enough to look at these. hahaha
Everytime I pass that tree now, I finger it.

I hate to say this man, but it looks like you were asking for trouble trying to descend an off-camber hill, with all that snow on the ground, with that tree there. :moon:
Still sucks though. I'm glad you went with the gloss black on the F-5's, it'll look good for sure. The gloss black on my 8069's looks great IMO, and I think it will go with Desert Dune just as well as it does Millenium Silver, considering they are similar shades. Hurry up and drive down to the border so you can put them on the Duster.
BTW, do you happen to have a passenger side inner fender liner available in good condition? :crazy:

lol yeah addison, I need the this little clip, it's like an L shape, but it's not, it goes near the engine, towards the body, it attaches the thing to the thing....and then this thing to this OTHER thing. Lemme know asap :couch2:
how'd you end up in that predicament in the picture? was there a trail down there or something? Looks like you just kinda "went for it" hahaha

Yah it looks that way in the pics and now in retrospect it's easy for me to say I should not have attempted it. However, I had tons of traction up to the point until it slipped. My tires were digging right through the snow and I was actually getting traction on the rocks/dirt underneath. Then all of a sudden it just let go.... I've been in some sketchy situations in the snow (especially on my Whipsaw 2011 run... butt pucker galore.) but needless to say, I am now much more careful after getting lucky on that door incident. Snow is fun but provides that variable of "no control" that I'm not too fond of. Still won't keep me out of the woods though!
Oh yah Nick, I'll send you an inner fender liner, as well as a rear seat pull strap, and A/C button switch bulb that I have lying around. hahaha
Dont encourage me on the wheels.... it's hard enough as it is! I'm waiting for some new lug nuts and my Weathertech mats (FINALLY) to show up so I can pick it all up at once!

Yah that is part of the trail that now goes around a huge washout (impassible by ANY vehicle). I've done it 20x but that time was the sh**iest. haha Actually here is a pic of the same spot in the summer.... the tree being just outside of the frame to the right of my rear bumper.

haha well, it doesnt ashame me to say i was going through your whole build and noticed you bought a runner for parts, so i was just testing waters lol. btw, i hope nothing too bad happened to that beuty! mine's the same....color. everything else is stock lol

Hahaha I gotcha, sorry man I wasn't trying to be an ass. It was just funny cause it made no sense at the time! Sorry I totally had the seatbelt parts but that thing is long gone - crushed for the steel.
First, I make lunch by the tree. I light some aroma therapy candles and begin gently caressing it's barky skin. Then I grace my hand over the knot and......

I drove to Montana this morning to pick up some "goodies" from the border. Grabbed my Weathertech floor mats, Gorilla Lugs/Locks, and a few SCS wheels. You already know what they look like and so do I - but if you think that's going to stop me from opening em' up and taking pics, your dead wrong!
Again, just want to say thanks to SCS for choosing me for the semi-sponsorship. I'm very humbled by the whole thing and stoked to be reppin' these awesome wheels. Vin has been an awesome guy to deal with and can't emphasize it enough. Buy these wheels if your even slightly considering them. In my 5 minutes of "drool-time" I had with the wheels today I instantly noticed a few things:
- quality looks superb
- the backs of the wheels are designed for a ton of clearance, should clear the Tundra's with ease where my Procomp's squeaked by...
- Lug nut holes are countersunk to allow way more thread engagement on our short OEM lug studs. A small detail easily overlooked.
- Hub centric, check!
- powdercoat appears excellent

Going to try and catch a big rainbow trout or two tomorrow and relax for a couple days. My dad also just picked up a 01' Tacoma Ext. cab with LOW miles which I'll grab pics of tomorrow with it's new wheels and tires mounted up. Need to trim some pinch welds apparently. Stay tuned.

Well let me tell you.... the wheels look absolutely AWESOME on the Duster. Too bad I don't have any pics to prove it. Yet. I'm kind of bummed, we had a group of 7 trucks ready to go wheeling tomorrow (the 27th) and for one reason or another everyone excpet for 2 of us had to bail on the plans. So we have decided to re-schedual.
Sure I could go grab some "driveway" shots of the wheels on the truck, but it would be way more dramatic to see the new wheels on the truck in the wilderness where it belongs. Ahaha I might just break down though, and snap some quick ones.... Sorry for the delay Vin!!!
On another note I was back in BC last weekend fishing. Got skunked and that sucked but it was still nice to get out on the water. Here is a pic from our day on the lake:

And a short story....
My Dad has always loved and driven Toyotas. He's also gotten pretty into quading since he bought his Honda about 5 years ago. He enjoys the views and all of the fellowship with his buddies who also go out with him. In 2011 when I did the Whipsaw Trail it was a no-brainer when I invited him to join me on the run. He was blown away by the capabilities of our trucks to say the least, and I could tell he was kind of hooked from that moment in his mind. He's getting ready to retire and he likes his toys. I have been throwing the idea around for him to pick up a older Toyota to mod and 4x4 with instead of buying a pricey new Can-Am quad. He had bought a Infiniti G37 out of the States a few years ago and had mentioned to a few dealerships to call him if they got any minty older Toyotas in stock. About a month ago he got the call from a dealership in Idaho: a MINT 1-owner, 01 Tacoma Ext. Cab, IJM, no accidents, fully dealer serviced, with 93K had just been traded in. My Dad claimed they wanted too much for it, but after about an hour of phone discussions and hard nosed business-man dealing, it was sold at a VERY reasonable price and was bound to be shipped to Spokane, where he would pick it up.
I got to check it out over the weekend and I'm pretty confident it's one of the nicest second hand vehicles I've ever seen. The guy who owned it before was definitely OCD, but that's a good thing! The interior floor has been completely wrapped in plastic - like seats and trim pieces pulled, floor wrapped, and everything installed again. I bet the carpet has never seen dirt. My Dad initially was claiming he would import it, sell it, and make a coupe thousand dollars as the demand for them in BC is quite high, especially for clean ones. It's funny though because after a week of ownership, it has new wheels/tires, the accompanying pinch weld mod, and Rigid Dually's mounted in the bumper (labor courtesy of his loving son.... haha). He's already talking about a lift and sliders - "Dad it's a slippery slope!!!" Who said a son can't offer words of wisdom to his father? Lol

I'm hoping this thing gets a suspension overhaul soon, with a little more convincing from yours truly... those factory leaves are sagged pretty bad. It's a rad truck though, and I hope it ends up staying in our family forever. Super stoked to get out and wheel with the Old Man and my brother is also in the market for a 3rd gen!!!
