I'd make the most minimalistic bumpers you can get away with and call it done. I love that basic, clean looking Toyota. Hence why I don't like the new ones.
The shape of that truck went from a 5 to a 10 in my books.
I drove my buddies built rock crawling 68 Bronco the other night and this kinda reminds me of that. He made the bumpers small and fitted and they look wicked. The fumes from the old engine and wonky steering with long arm suspension completed the test ride... haha.
Keeping it simple and clean is the way to go!
BTW, you might have also met my other buddy Dion. I guess he took his rock crawler to one of the CT4WD shows. That thing is wicked, but I can't even fit in it to drive it. It's not made for somebody bigger than 5'10"ish.

Yah the J-Springs are slightly taller but after removing my current coil spacer, they should sit almost identical. The perk here is that if I ever need to go slightly taller, I can throw the 1" spacer I have back in.
I agree Quinn, clean and simple FTW. I also love a wide stance. scroll down and see my new shoes. I think it's starting to resemble my own personal "style" and should remind people of the Duster slightly.
I am. I already think I can give a solid review on it. I will admit, it's not nearly as noticeable as I thought it would be. I hear it ratched on pavement once in a while with a loud pop, but thats it. I dont notice it at all when driving except for maybe heavier steering feel (might just be the bulky Cruiser too...) It was great offroad too, as expected. My only quam is the fact that it's always locked. Sometime I like to challenge myself with the locker off and then lock it up as a last resort - I don't have that option anymore.

I was flipping back and forth over 37" vs. 35" tires. 37's are WAY more expensive and would have required a re-gear. 35's are cheap (relatively) and I can manage with stock gears until I drop some coin on gears/air lockers. 35" MTZ's measure out small @ 34.xxx" where the 35" MTR's are a true 35" tire. Sounds like I'm splitting hairs but seeing as how I went 35's I wanted the largest ones I could get. And the MTR's were dirt cheap through discount tire direct. So far I like them and they are substantially quieter than my MTZ's on the highway. They are definitely terrible to balance though.... ughhh.

Thanks a lot! The details really are what make your vehicle stand apart from the masses, when you ad them all up so that's what I've always tried to do with my builds. I think it's working out! haha
On a side note, I thought I posted these here but I guess not.... I have been helping my Dad build a 1st gen Tacoma over the last 6 months and it's almost to where we want it to be. Here's a couple pics from last week:

who makes that front bumper? im typically not a fan of tube as it leaves a lot of open areas to see the unfinished body pannels behind that would otherwise stay hidden with plate of factory bumpers... but that bumper does a good job of shielding and hiding that stuff, it keeps they eye at the bumper and not looking past into the unfinished...
