'99 4runner Limited climate control issues

Hey guys, I just picked up a minty Limited, and the only issue it seems to have is the climate control is finicky. The "auto" mode never lights up no matter how much I stab at it, neither will front windshield defrost (doesn't transfer the airflow either), if I stab "mode" 5 times it might change once. Temperature and fan blower dials work properly though.

Is this common? Should I just source a new HVAC unit?

How many miles you got? My 2000 limited with 190000 is working great. Only problem I have is the knobs have a little lag. All lights and buttons work fine. Hope you don't need to replace. Can get pricy

Yeah no prob. I looked into getting another one just cuz the knob issue annoys me. Found a refurbished for 300.... Defiantly not worth it.

$300 on a refurb is not too bad considering a new one from stealership is $1100. A company in Tennessee is repairing them for $113.05 right now. I've never used them but have spoken to them on the phone several times. I'm going to use them soon with my climate control. Their ebay listing is cheaper than going thru their website. I spoke to them about it and they said to go thru ebay to get cheaper price. Seems legit to me but don't know anyone that has used them. Here is their ebay link 1999 2000 2001 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER LIMITED CLIMATE CONTROL REPAIR DIGITAL | eBay

Thanks guys, I'll try to source one locally, if I can't, I'll try the repair service and post up how it went.

Ps. Anyone ever have the low washer fluid light stay on?

i've sent my digital climate control to the ebay seller posted above earlier this year. Turnaround was really quick, took them a day from receiving my part and fixing it before sending it back to me. The only issue I had with them was that I sent it in with 4 new working bulbs installed. It came back with only 3 working. They put a sticker on it that if you break the sticker/seal, they will not warranty the work, which was kind of dumb since I needed to remove it to install a new bulb. So I had to carefully lift the sticker off without ripping it. Other than that, I would recommend them.
