'99 4Runner Limited Elocker

We are selling our 1999 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4wd. I am the second owner for approx 5 years. 172K miles. I have too many Toyotas at the moment and would like to sell a couple to get into other vehicles.

Asking price is $5,999 obo

Work I have done during ownership: Plugs, wires, intake gasket, fuel pressure regulator, starter rebuild. Installation of all new OEM toyota springs, shocks, rear air bag, new tires.

It is a typical Limited model (leather, sunroof, tow, etc), except this model has the locking rear axle.

AC hasn't been working and I don't have time to track it down. Other than that, nothing leaks and she runs flawlessly.

I think I may have put 10K miles total over 5 years on it. I just don't drive it so it's going to a new home. Being from the midwest, bottom has some rust. I never drove it in the snow, but previous owner did.

These pictures are from today. It's been in my warehouse all fall and winter so it's a little dusty.

How bad is the rust, could we see some pictures? And is it just frame or are the rockers getting some as well?

Looks great!

It's at my warehouse in Elk Grove Village, IL

Mostly it's the frame/axles that are rusty. Body panels are good. Rear bumpers are starting to bubble a little. I will try to get under it today for pictures.

Upload some photos of the frame/undercarriage.
Your really steep on the asking price especially for
A midwest/rustbelt vehicle. I picked my '00 limited up with 187k in 7/16 for $2200. I would rather drive to a southern state and buy a pretty much rust free 3rd gen for the same price your asking for a truck thats lived in IL the state where our blacktop roads look like cement after a dusting of snow. I don't mean to knock your post but I've found better shape 4th gens in IL. For under 6k that dont have the notorious frame rot. What area did you buy this from prior to you owning it? I wouldn't pay more then $3500 for something like this from IL. Just my .02. Anyway good luck.

Well, it's an asking price, which is why I said OBO.

It doesn't sound like you are in the market anyways.

I have 2 x 4th gen V8s with similar rust. I'd like to get a no-rust, 3rd gen limited for $2200. Please, show me all these no-rust limiteds for $2200 and I will buy them up and store them. Any no-rust 3rd gens either have a replacement frame, have been "cleaned up" (wire brush/painted), or they sell for $20K. Most 3rd gens for sale under $4000 have something wrong- frame rusted through, salvage, accident, etc.

There's some rust on mine, but not as much as the majority of the ones I passed on.

Yeah I understand you on that. I'm saying I picked up mine from a guy in buffalo grove and the frame wasn't nearly that rusted. You can tell in pictures 1, 2 and 3 that the structural intergrity on the metal is rusting from the inside and its only a matter of time til theirs a hole there. I've been finding good rust free examples in the southern states for under 6k

1996 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4x4 - cars & trucks - by dealer - vehicle automotive sale heres one for example. Mine did have frame rust and I looked at a handful before deciding on which one was the least rusty. I got it cheap because I put time and labor into it that the PO didn't want to deal with. I haven't seen any that cap off at 20k.
By that point might as well get a 5th gen for that price.
I'm not in the market for one its just unreal to ask that for something thats that rusted, and I'm always browsing cars/trucks/motorcycles to see what's out there.
Like I said not trying to knock your post but $3500 seems more realistic since that's only a few years away from rotting through. Anyway again good luck with the sale!

So you link a car that is 3 years older, has 5K more miles and no E locker, no Auto climate, no underside pictures, and it's listed the same price as mine.... Thank you for proving my point.
