Don't follow that at all. That is not a good indicator, stick with a mechanic.

It is just an indicator. Another tool to use just like looking at the pedals, seating surfaces, steering wheel, knobs, buttons, etc for wear to see if it matches what the odo reads.
Def. need to have a mechanic check things of you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

I disagree. If your vehicle is torn up and dirty on the inside, where you spend all your time, the exterior/engine is most likely going to be as badly taken care of. I'd walk away from this one...it's kind of a Frankenstein!

Of course i would walk away from a car that has a completly ruined interior, but i wouldnt judge the mechanical side of things by how organized and clean someone is, my moms car is starting to get trashed from so many dump runs, but me and my dad change the oil ever 7k miles, brakes when they need to be done, and all the regular maintanence on time, and none of us beat on the car. And her car isn't the only one like that, you didnt hear KellyJ about his runner.

yeah my suv's are my do all's i carry lumber,wet soggy sharp ski's in the back, sleep back there, hockey sticks, muddy clothes from hiking,living in it for weeks on 5K miles road trips, and then all of the stupid crap my friends do, my truck is always messy on the inside even though i clean it every 4-5 days, point is if your a very active person it's almost impossible to keep the interior clean, as far as the mechs go i'm a nazi about routine, i always change my oil a bit early, do every maintenance suggestion from the manual per intervals, i use my truck like a truck but treat it like a queen, so i agree with john, too trashed is to trashed but the mech's are what you buy the truck for, a torn leather seat just says he got in with a screwdriver or some sharp object in his pocket doesn;t say he thrashed the ride.

if you want to know if it's been wheeled look in the airbox for debris/water marks ect, look under it and check the diffs and skid plates for scratches and dents.bumps ect ect, see if anything is bent ect.

i would keep the inside very very clean if i could but it's just not possible, my girl gives me crap about taking q-tips to my car every 4-5 days and going buck on cleaning it. only to have it covered in mud/snow/dirt when the weekend rolls around again.


side note does anyone else get pissed off at how hard it is to clean between the seats and the center console and all of the little cracks around the stick shifter and surrounding trim?

yeah man, to each his own, personally i wouldn't buy a truck with a ripped up interior, i like to do that, lol, but bottom line if the price reflects the condition of the interior you shouldn't let it stop you from buying, this really is a personal preference thing.

i guess the real bottom line is how much it bothers YOU, screw what we say, it's how you feel about it lol arty:

It is all true...but look at the guys ad again...and the pictures I took. He just bumped it up to $9,000.
I still say he is smoking crack or is woefully out of touch with reality. All that crap & mistreated interior for a supercharger??? Not for me!

Do you mean the 'Clutch start cancel' button? Xterra's have that too. It's just a button that can help you out in sticky situations where you're on a steep hill and rolling back isn't an option and you've stalled. You just press it and you can turn the ignition without stepping on the clutch so you can gun it out of whatever situation you're in right after starting the truck. My friend's clutch start interlock isn't working and he uses that button to override the clutch when he turns on his 4Runner.

I don't know if there's anything else behind it or not other than it allows you to crank the engine without pressing the clutch.

it's just a high tq starter is all, and it works by having a high tq rating to over power the compression in the motor and get you going without the clutch/transmission being disengaged. to me that is a very cool thing i don't think i ever saw a jeep that came with one of those. it's like everyday i'm finding cool things that toyota did and jeep did not.
