99+ Head lights on 98 T4R SR5????

Hi, I just install HID's on my 98 SR5 but i don't like the light pattern from the OEM Headlight's, i will like to install the Headlight's & grill from a 99+ model or maybe just the Headlight, 96-98 unlike the 99+ r not clear. My question is can i install the 99+ OEM headlight's on my 98, I dont like the Ebay aftermarket clear headlight's for my year. here i have some pictures from my 4Runner, Thanks

You can use either 99+ headlights, 99+ grill, or a combination of the two. They will both work.

Be very carful with the headlights you buy. Some of the aftermarket headlights have really bad light patterns.

I know my friend, thats why i like to buy the OEM 99+ because they r clear & I have seen them with HID's and I like the light pattern from them. This 98 headlight r NOT clear and the HID beam is all over, not like on my Scion tC that have clear headlight;s and the light beam is good. Thanks for the prompt replay to my question . Thanks

If you go with OEM from the dealer you're going to get ripped off. Good luck finding them from a scrap yard.

I think CertiFit might be your best bet depending on your location.

It's not the frosted glass that causes the bad beam pattern on the '96-98 head lights.

ya oem for sure check ebay as for aftermarket ones ive seen sets for 70 shipped id only buy those to retrofit

I really don't know how to tell which ones are legit on ebay.

Yeah, even in OEM 99-01 headlights your still going to get crappy light output with HID's. Like Clemson said, it's not the frosted lens. I'll post pics of the disaster if you'd like, there in here somewhere. Or just look up my YouTube video of a HID PnP kit vs a projector retrofit.

Hi, I know there is several thread's about how to make the retrofit but is there someone here at T4R.ORG that sale the kit I just dont have the time and dont like to damage some Headlight's on the process. By the way here I have some pic's from my interior LED's upgrade from superbrightleds.com

this is what you should do:

get either used OEM clear 99 housings or aftermarket housings with glass lenses.

next heat up the housings and swap the new glass onto you factor 96 housing. it will fit perfectly.

lastly, throw away the aftermarket housings.

I recently installed the aftermarket housings and threw away the factory ones doooh

I've never had the OEM 99+ lights, so I can't compare.....but I'm happy with my E-bay 99+ lights.......

yeah man send an message to Rickashay, he does some nice work. its pricey but well worth it for night driving

it sucks the 4runner housing is so bad with HID's im not sure how your Scion or Miata look but here are the results of my HIDS in the factory housings

then the wonderful retrofit

BTW your LEDs look great man!
