99 heated mirrors in a 98 4runner

Can't seem to find a thread about it but if there is one can someone point me in that direction? Has anyone done a write up on putting heated mirror assemblies from a 99 4runner into a 96-98? I have a set of 99 mirrors I want to install in my 98 limited. I'd like to tie the heated mirrors into the rear defroster button like toyota did in 99-02. Thanks for any help!

That'd be cool, wiring shouldn't be that hard.

Hey sorry I haven't had the time to break into it yet. I'm gunna have to do it soon though, winter is coming. When I do I'll be sure to take a bunch of pics and do a write up. Sorry for the delayed response

Should be pretty easy to wire up the heated part of the mirrors to work with the rear defroster. Just tap into the wiring at the back of the defrost switch and run power from there to the mirrors. If a ground is needed just tap into a ground in thw door wiring or add a new ground to the door. Pretty straight forward runni g the wires will be the hardest part.

If you're trying to add heated mirrors to your regular defrost I think

Nope, not all the wires are positive. There are 5 wires, 3 that were originally there for the mirror motor that stay as they are. You are only concerned with the two wires for the heater for the mod I posted, one positive and one ground for each side. In my case the ground is white w/black stripe and the positive is green with black stripe. I ran the ground wire through the door wiring boot to a bolt in the body close to where the wires enter from the boot.

I should have marked what color goes to 87 on the relay, but don't know if other years are different colors...I should also noted that the two power wires are the total of one wire from each mirror.

Sorry about the stinky link. It's Ultimate Yota if you want to try to get to it. I just ignore the warnings but am not going to tell you to do that. It's very similar to what I posted.
