99 limited woodgrain interior pieces

Hello I am about to close deal on some sweet interior woodgrain pieces, but I think I am lacking a couple...

I am converting my 99 from SR5 black trim and radio bezel to 99 Limited woodgrain look.


1/ Should there be accent woodgrain pieces for the dash vents at driver and passenger sides?

2/ Should there be woodgrain accent piece to surround the cupholder top of the center console-between the seats starting with 99 (not inside the cupholder I realize) ?

3/ The ECT button to the right of the rear defrost switch-is that an indicator light or an acutal switch?

4/ When the rear window defrost switch is not engaged "on" does it still have a backlight to indicate the switch is there? When I drive at night the switch is totally "hidden" and I am guessing a bulb may be out ....

Thanks for all your help. Once this upgrade is made I am hoping to match a MOMO Burlwood shift knob for a classier touch.

Any reason this will not work? Go ahead I would rather hear it now....

I wonder if I can make my manny transmission boots fit between the cutouts-that lower piece really sets off the radio bezel.

Removing that woodgrain stuff was the FIRST thing I did on my 99, went straight in the trash, lol If I had know people actually like that stuff, I would have tried to sell it, lol

scrounge around the junkyard someday and find some domestic trucks with single pole electrical connections

Ford F150s have a nice one-I have a Ranger and a Tacoma horn right now and it is still wimpy.

I think the newer Runners got a better horn-the 01-02 Runners don't have the MEEP MEEP roadrunner sound like we do.

your door handle thing sounds like a bad door handle-maybe there is an inner spring in there but probably just get another one

Take out the baffles that are under the 2 horns on your 4Runner... it will sound much better

I bought an oem shield and it comes in contact with the bottom lip of the hood. I just want to find one that doesn't use bumpers, doesn't hit the hood at 80 mph w/o them, and doesn't touch the lip of the hood. I will only be using it on road trips so adhesive won't a good form of attachment.

No problem-o. Here's what I am referring to about the baffles:

I had an OEM shield, but I hit a chain and destroyed it. Luckily, the AVS shield mounts right where the OEM ones did, it just came with a couple extra mounting screws for it, which I also used. (It is on very securely) I used the old bumpers for my AVS, since it didn't come with any. It flexes a little at 80 MPH plus, but unless its really windy out, it wont move much. I think I paid $57 for it, the only difference between the OEM and AVS ones is that it doesn't say Toyota, it says AVS II in white -

I have a quick question regarding wood grain. I have a 99' SR5 that has woodgrain. Was this an option on the SR5 and just how common is it? Also, mine has the gold lettering. Was this optional and how common is it?

woodgrain is both a factory option and also there are companies that sell woodgrain stick on kits.

Not sure if it was an option on SR5 models or not.

Gold badging on the exterior of your Runner was an option.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I figured it was an option. It looks like it is real wood, which was a surprise when i went to buy it a couple of weeks ago. I assumed it was plastic from the pictures I had seen.
 
Thanks for these pics, now I know i have more bulbs out on my dash than I first thought. The ECT button, rear defroster, and rear window lights actually light up? sweet.

Someone else said that it shows ECT on the gauge cluster also when the button is pressed, is that on all models because I dont have that light either?

It actually is real wood if it is Toyota original. My driver's door piece delaminated after getting wet all the time and the plastic top came off the wood. I sanded and restained the wood, then polyurethaned it. It's a good match but looks MUCH nicer. I may do the rest of the pieces someday, if I get the courage to try and delaminate them. A soaking and a heat gun would work, I think. I learned to do this on a 15 year-old BMW 735i I had a while back.

The wood was actually a dealer option on the SR5--mine were a throw-in in final negotiation. I had a choice of wood or gold badges--and I hate gold badges.

The button is not on the shifter, its on the dash beside the rear defrost. I checked today and it definitely works as it should, just no dash light. Youre right, winter is not the time to be doing this :)

my 99 (highlander) had the woodtrim and the gold badging both was removed within about a week of buying it, so Im not sure but think that was pretty common
