Approach/departure angles are comparable...but the ground clearance figures from Toyota is far from being factual...so, it is not something that you can compare with another manufacturer.

Approach/departure angles are comparable...but the ground clearance figures from Toyota is far from being factual...so, it is not something that you can compare with another manufacturer.
I do like the big storage compartment in the back, but mine is either broken or was formed improperly from the factory, because the left latch doesn't hold the cover in place flush with the rest of the cargo area.
What about the double level console armrest? Was that new in 99?
hey i just to have the same problem widt the back door you have to becarefull width the small tub not to get cut between the panel...

I did an even exchange with a guy on yotatech, for the proper console. I made sure Bryan was ok with it though.

not sure if i should be sharing this story, but one time i had some illegal substances stored in the top part of the center console. Then i got pulled over, the cop smelled "somethin" and proceeded to search my car, noticing the smell was coming from the center console, went through everything! about 4 times, just to give up because he couldnt figure out there was that secret little compartment. thank god for good ol toyota engineering

Steering wheels went with a 4 spoke design in '98 and the upper center console the air vents straddle the clock starting in '99 and the odometer became digital in the same year and added dual tripometers. The sunroof console also changed and the seats are a little different in the Highlander/Sport models and the fabrics changed a little.
The rear window button was moved up to the dash in '99 from the lower console and the biggie is the cupholders were moved from the dash (worst design ever) down to the lower console.
Plus the SR5's HVAC controls changed a few times over the years.
Plus the added power sockets up front and 1 added in the rear make up most of the diffs but overall the interiors haven't changed a lot but became more ergonomic after '98.
I know you probably have perused this thread and noticed most of these but it doesn't hurt to have a recap this late in the thread.

nothin, i like watchin it roll, plus its like stepping back a little in time.
Thanks for the recap. It sounds like the only major difference is the cupholders.

where the jack goes, i actually managed to get a tow hitch in there, the ball receiver and everything.
That's where I keep mine too! Fits great!
