If I trade out my stock window switch from my 98 to one from a 99+ will I gain the driver and passenger auto up and down or does the ecu not recognize this?

i love the upper compartment in the center console

funnny story about finding my upper compartment (about 3 weeks into ownership)

I felt just like that when I found that upper compartment...after almost 5 years of ownership... Seriously.

I didn't see it mentioned so i'll mention it. The underside of the armrest lid, (the secret compartment lid) has business card holders. Could probably use them for another purpose, but nice to have.

That is cool, was never quite sure what that holder is for.I do put my business cards in there although they seem kinda loose but works OK.

ECU has nothing to do with window switches. I compared the switches in my 97 to some in a 99 in a junkyard and the plugs were different so I would say they are not swappable.

heh, i finally found that secret compartment. there was something rattling around in there and i actually took it apart with a screwdriver before figuring it out.

it was the original key with the black plastic top, cool to have but the plastic loop is split on it.

One touch open is nice... although they don't trust us enough to not sandwich our fingers between glass and the roof... haha

I just bought a 99 and it didn't have any of the manuals/paperwork with it. Its always fun to go back and look at what sales info Toyota put out.

Yes, all 99-02 had the rear power port. I thought I would make more use of mine. I plugged an AC converter into mine a couple times when camping/sleeping in the back, but thats it.

cant believe it took so long to mention the cupholders. i hate having mine block up my AC controls when i have a drink. guess its better than driving a 6spd w/ no cupholders though haha. has anyone switched over center consoles? from what i can remember, it seems like the pre-99s have the e-brake about in the middle of the console whereas later models are off center? that alone would make it a major undertaking...

that being said, i am much more fond of my front bumper vice the later 'underbite' look so i guess ill take my odd cupholder placement lol

Yes,the center console swap is quite common and there are write-ups for it.
