I've read a lot posts talking about replacing fog lamp bulbs for the Limited and Sport 4Runner. The SR5 does not come factory fog lamp but the car is pre-wired. I wanted to know which factory or aftermarket fog kit I should buy. I don't mind the fogs turns on the same time as the headlights, so replacing the switch is not necessary.

Are you looking to install these for foggy night driving or simply as an additional driving light? For not much more, you can do an HID projector retrofit like the Morimoto Mini D2S into the headlights and dwarf the output of those Hella projector foglights.
I have a set of Blazer mini projectors from theretrofitsource for my factory foglight openings, but haven't had any motivation to devise a bracket for them yet and I don't feel any need for additional lighting though either. Don't get me wrong - I think bumper foglamps whether aftermarket or OEM like Hella DE's halogens would be a nice addition for both looks and rainy/foggy conditions.

I haven't done it yet but it's on my to-do list. Looks to be pretty simple since there is already a plug at the stock fog location. It would be harder if you tried to wire it into the turn signal stalk, making it look factory. The kit I linked to comes with a switch to mount in one of the knockouts on the dash by your left knee.
Also, here is a writeup on that "other" forum on how to make some splash guards to keep water out of the housings. That seems to be a problem since the lights are mounted right in front of the wheels.

How do I wire the switch comes with the kit and mount on the knockout?
I've seem people replacing the turn signal stalk with the ones have fog switch on. Wouldn't that be easier if the SR5 is pre-wired with fogs?

I'm looking for some for my 03 SR5, mostly for the looks and some for the additional light. I would like it to be in the turn signal stock but by my
Left knee or in one of the places in the center console would work. Someone else is Goin to have to wire it though, I'm a genus when it comes to mechanical work (on engines) and a little on electrical, but I couldnt wire something for the life of me!
Oh, and I'm looking for a factory housing, I'll most likely got them from a rear ended 4Rnr or just buy
Them from partstrain.com or feebay.

I can't answer that yet as I haven't done it, but pretty sure the kit comes with instructions. If your truck didn't come with fogs from the factory, then your turn signal stalk doesn't have the fog light switch on it. That means you'd have to purchase a new stalk and take off some of the steering column to get to the wiring, which is outside the scope of this particular kit. I'm sure it can be done, but the stalk is ~$265 online at Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Toyota Auto Parts and Accessories (part # 84310-1B220 on a '99-'00), so going that route adds considerably to the cost unless you can find one on a wrecked 4Runner somewhere.

I bought an OEM Toyota genuine turn signal switch with fogs from my local dealer for $60(ish). A lot less than the $265 you found online. I can post the part number tomorrow.

Yeah, looks like you're right. The part number I listed must be the entire switch assembly, as in both sides of the steering column (blinkers, wipers, everything). This diagram is helpful:

Whoa, there is some parallel universe action going on in that YT link - same members, same issues. quicksilvr, be sure to post your results with the new turn signal stalk. Someone has to try it.

I read the instructions in the YT thread, and I'm no expert, but I can't see why you couldn't just wire it to the new turn signal stalk instead of the dash switch. I'm really interested to try it, though. At least once quicksilvr tells me it works, that is.
I have an '02 SR5 that was wired up already as well. I added stock fogs and was going to to the knock out switch but liked the idea of having it on the light stalk. I ordered an aftermarket one that was 70 bucks. A few minutes to unscrew the 3 screws for the column and 4 for the drivers side panel and you have access to light stalk. It's all plug and play, there are two smaller screws holding it place. Replace all items in reverse order. I'd say 30-45 min at most.

FYI - Another link since yellowandbluelighting.com is out of stock. This one says it comes with free reverse lights, too, though not sure what quality.
