Go on autotrader or cars.com and find any 1999 Limited 4WD for sale that has a VIN listed. Use that VIN.
Most online dealers do have an option to check a box saying you are not providing a VIN and your order accuracy can not be guaranteed. You could always click that and you're all set. (edit...like steeze mentioned below, use the part numbers in this thread and at checkout at an online dealer check the box I just mentioned)

So all 1999 Limited 4WD's are Highlanders?
I've searched eBay, AutoTrader, Cars etc. and the combination of 1999 and Highlander doesn't ever come up.
I think the Highlanders in 1999 only came in Jade and Black as well, but not all Jade and Black are Highlanders right? lol

No. They are two different trims. What you need to know is that all 1999 Limited 4WD's came with the tallest coils...the same ones on the Sport

Ok, then I guess we can just stop using the word Highlander all together then, and just say "1999 Limited 4WD have tall coils". It seems those would be much easier to find! Am I on the right track now? haha

That's why we're specifically talking about 99 Limited 4WD's. Actually all 1999 4WD's (any trim) came with the tall coils. For whatever reason many people here always call the tall coils Highlander coils. Really they should just say 1999 4WD coils.

Not true. Ron Helmuth has a 1999 4WD and it did not have the tall coils.

^ agreed. Not all '99 4WD have the taller springs. I believe it's just the '99 SR5 Sport "Highlander". Hence the designation Highlander springs.

There is nothing in the VIN....
The are no badges that say Highlander....
This is all I can gather:
"1999 was the first year the Highlander was introduced by Toyota. A 1999 Highlander is a Toyota 4Runner SR5 with the SP or SX Option Package. In 1999 it's exterior was available only in Black or Imperial Jade Mica. The Mica Jade came with an Oak interior, and the Black version came with either an Oak or Grey interior."

I was just double checking my "all 4WD" statement but you beat me to pointing out that was wrong. Let me try that again
: All 1999 4WD's that came with 16" rims (which would be all the 4WD Limiteds).

You don't need to. One last time. Go to parts.camelbacktoyota.com. Enter 48231-35210. Once your shopping cart is all set, at the checkout click the radio button for not entering a VIN that says you understand the accuracy of the order can not be guaranteed. Your done. Get over the VIN thing...you don't need it.

Read this carefully and tell me if you disagree, you can reread my previous posts as I've said the same thing multiple times yet you say I'm wrong but don't mention 2 or 4WD which I have been doing...All 1999 Limited 4WD's (which all came with 16" rims) have tall coils. Agree or disagree? Not once have I said all 1999 Limiteds have tall coils

I don't believe all Highlanders came with tall springs. Going by the brochure no 2WD, even with 16" rims, was as tall as a 4WD 16" rim 4Runner. Entering the VIN of a 2WD Highlander into toyodiy comes up with a different part number than the tall springs too. That's not a fool proof argument but likely a correct inference.

Sorry Bootown you are wrong again. I've personally seen two 1999 4wd Limiteds without the 99 talls. The ones I've typically seen with the talls are the ones with E-Lockers. It was kind of hit and miss with the 4wd Limiteds whether they got the talls or not.

Well that's strange. The brochure shows that the overall height for all 4WD Limiteds as being the same. Also, looking at partznet it only shows 3 different coil options for 99 based on 2WD, 4WD 15" wheel, 4WD 16" wheel. If you personally saw different coils on two Limiteds I'll take your word for it though.
How did you know the coils on those two were not the talls?

If it doesn't have the tall springs, it's not a Highlander.
The "Highlander" is the '99 SR5 Sport 4x4. (hood scoop, black fender flares, 16" wheels, color matched bumper.)
