Thanks. It was real draining looking for a new one. Lots of highs and lows I experienced in that week. As funny as that sounds, probably mark that one under the "first world problems", but I feel weird without a vehicle. Something of me is missing, and I even noticed a change in my mood. Weird. Anywho, just glad to find something that meets my standards and continue to make it my own. Appreciate the comment.

I've been having some issues with these Duratracs, to say the least. I drove home initially on Sunday (70 miles on I5 South) and the vehicle felt like it would come apart if I pushed it more than 60 MPH. I requested wheel weights on the inside of the wheels, preferably, when getting mounted on Saturday. This was a NO-GO as the ride was unbearable. I took the Runner into the local America's Tire here in Eugene and had them re-balanced on Monday. NO-GO! I drove back after a 10 miles test drive and had them road force balance the very same day. There was a marginal improvement in ride quality, BUT it still does not feel right. I'm not sure if I'm just being a nancy, or I in fact got a defect set of tires. I do not mind the slight hum, but the constant steering wheel shake is just simply not cool. The vehicle rode completely fine with the other set of tires, and I have yet to spot any issues with my steering. I'm contemplating whether to get the tires swapped out for another set, or go to the tried and true BFG All-Terrains that never gave me a problem. My only issue with the BFGs is that it comes in a Load Range E, which I am certainly trying to stray away from. I truly want to like the Duratracs, but so far, I am disappointed to say the least. I do love the Load Range C, snowflake rating, and how the Duratracs look though... Stay tuned!

The DuraTrac's look good, but it sucks they are giving you such trouble. I am at a severe crossroads in my tire choice, so anytime someone gets a tire I am thinking of getting, I'm always eager to hear their thoughts.

That's what my thoughts are. I expected an increase in road noise, but aside from that, not a whole lot else should've changed. I'm not sure of tire pressure, as I recently lost my tire pressure gauge when switching vehicle. I would not think an increase, or decrease in air pressure could cause this much of an issue... but I've been known to be wrong before. What's the recommended PSI set-up? 35-38 PSI?

I have suspension plans, but that is far down the road. I'm going to focus on some maintenance items prior to going nuts with the 'fun' modifications. Thanks for the nice words!

I run my duratracs at 32psi and they ride great. Mine are load range E, 285's. sorry to hear about the issues you're having with yours. If balancing failed to help 3 different times, my bet is faulty set of tires or tire for that matter. Hope it is all sorted out, and you don't have to switch to BFG's because I can't say enough good things about my duratracs.

Have you verified that the tire store has the correct attachment tool for balancing Toyota wheels? Not every shop can do it right.

I've never heard of this before. What is the "correct attachment tools" for balancing a Toyota, to be specific. I figure Americas Tire/Discount Tire would have all of the necessary equipment and not be a problem getting mounted.

Sounds like we may be in the same boat... And it ain't a fun one. I had mine initially balance on Saturday, rebalanced on Monday, and then road forced about an hour later on Monday. I needs me a solution!

The dealer should have one. There was even a TSB (TSB-SU002-96) for use of the Haweka adapter.

I got a set of Duratracs from Americas tire in redwood city , ca. Same story, tires not balanced causing vibes. Took it back and they ended up replacing one of them because they couldn't get it to balance. Still have some vibes , but not enough to make me go back a third time.

I loved my BFG's but when I needed new tires and found out they went Load Range E only, I was out. I ended up going with Load Range C Cooper Discoverer S/Ts. Everyone mistakes them for BFGs because the tread pattern is similar, only they have a more modern tread compound. If you want to stick with a Load Range C or D (which I recommend), give them a look. Here's a pic.

Nice job on the build. Everyone has 5-spoke wheels now, so the older 3-spokes are actually a bit refreshing to see. They look great in that color.

Just so I have it right, this is something that I do not have to purchase, instead, the dealership (or a private shop) should have the necessary equipment (Haweka Adapter) to potentially produce the best results for mounting these wheels?

I've got my Duratracs back in late '09 and now have about 32k miles on them and they are a tad noisey with some hum around 70mph but I haven't had any issues with balancing or any vibrations.
