Here where I could use some help

I replaced the timing belt and water pump back in October 2012. Ran fine. Started making this noise about 2 months ago.

I since then went back in and replaced both timing belt pulleys last month. All parts are OEM parts.

I took all three accessories belts off one at a time and noise is still there.
Now, when I took timing belt cover off, a small amount of radiator fluid splashed on pulleys and noise is totally gone. Engine purrs like a sewing machine. So I ran it for about 30 minutes and noise comes back. I have tried this 2 times and both times noise will totally go away if fluid is splashed on parts when taking radiator house off, but always comes back.

My questions is what could it possible be?

All pulleys and timing belt and water pump are all new OEM toyota parts bought from local dealer.

Any help would be much appreciated. This is about to drive me nuts.

It sounds like a bad/dry bearing to me. At least as well as I can tell with the speakers I'm listening with at the moment.

You said you replaced the timing belt pulleys. So that should rule them out.

What I'm wondering about is your quoted statement. Was at least one accessory drive belt always in place, during your tests? I would take all of the accessory drive belts off, and start the engine briefly, to see if the noise is still present.

If the noise goes away with no accessory drive belts turning the fan pulley, I suspect it's the bearing in your fan pulley bracket.

You probably have a rusty pulley in your timing belt track.

Use a rubber hose as stethoscope and try to locate the area where the noise is coming from. Replace that pulley.

Pulleys

All pulleys are brand new.

And I have run the same test twice with all three accessory belts off at the same time. Noise is still there.

It's coming from the timing belt area. I wonder what the chances of getting a bad timing belt pulley are.

Would there be anything in there other than the 2 pulleys that could be doing this?

The water pumped is sealed,so I would think I could rule this out.

Is it possible to have a rusty pulley when they are less than 4-5 weeks old. They are brand new from Toyota?

Interesting, my 96 Camry V6 makes the exact same noise. I too have new water pump,auto tensioner, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. From what i've found out, it seems like it's coming from the timing belt interfacing with the cam pulleys. If you rev it too 2500 or so does the noise go away? I've had the timing cover off and engine running and at low RPM the belt rapidly vibrates coming on to the pulley. When you rev it, the belt smooths out and the noise goes away. I was planning on replacing pulleys but not any more. I've also hypothesized that the auto tensioner has the belt too tight.

The cam pulleys could be pitted or worn and with the new belt, they could squeak. Find out where the noise is coming from and replace.

Well I pulled the timing belt cover off and ran motor hoping to pin point the noise better.

After several try's I have found the problem.

My brand new OEM waterpump is making the noise. With the motor running, I can very carefully drop 3n1 oil on back side of waterpump pulley and its immediatly stops.

So much for OEM parts lasting.


Now I have to tear the whole thing back part just to replace the water pump.
