My neighbor is the shop foreman over 2 or 3 others.....very small shop but they been around a long time. Old man Bill has a great reputation. I would highly recommend him and his crew.

Ya....I ended up with a 2013 Maxima. Nice ride but kinda low to the road...hard to see around those darned 4Runners.
Just went through 4 bottles of Fabrize (sp?) to wipe out cigarette smell. Man, that was nasty! Guess I am super-sensitive to that right now, since not smoking for 6 weeks :smokin:
My last 4Runner went 15 years without ever being smoked in...can't stand that rancid, cat piss smell inside my vehicles.

Just got pics from the shop...
The only thing damaged (suspension wise) was the knuckle. After replacing that, the alignment was almost perfect again.
Just waiting for the last headlamp mounting bracket and my "Toy" will be better.
Will probably get it back tomorrow. :jump:

That is good you have someone you trust doing the repairs. I am impressed they used a towel between the jack and your frame...most places wouldn't care if they scratched your frame.
For the fender and bumper, it looks like you are getting new pieces. Are they pre-painted from the factory, or are they paining it, and if they are, are they blending it in to your other panels? (I hate when shops have to blend over good factory paint)
On a side note, how do you like that CVT Trans in the Maxima? I had one of those as a rental for the day, and it drove me nuts!

All the pieces were painted by the shop. they even removed the driver side door and stripped the clear coat so the minor damage to the edge caused by me opening the door could be blended and re-clear coated. Just waiting for the "ClearBra" guy to replace door edge, area behind door handle, and rocker panel protection. The error codes on the dash have been cleared. The steering wheel is now straight, and all of the Multi-terrain modes have been checked and are functional.
And, the "CVT" tranny? It's alright...you don't even feel it shift. Now, what I don't like, is the sport shifting mode...if you down-shift one gear, it goes into 1st after stopping. Not like our 4Runners, where you just limit the top gear it will shift into.

I did get my Runner back last week...if you didn't know, you would not be able to tell it was ever in an accident. My guys did an excellent job.
I've already received the payment ($4700) for the repairs and my $250 deductible. Now I am in the process of filing a "Diminished Value" claim with the "other" insurance company. I got a guy that prepares reports for DV and he thinks I can get up to $4000 due to the newness and pre-loss condition of the truck. (I only have ~3,750 miles on it...haven't even changed the oil yet!).
When I took the rental car back to Enterprise, I complained about the foul smell it had. My part (20%) of the bill was $96...they volunteered to cut that in half. I guess the squeaky wheel does get greased once in a while, huh?
Overall, I'm pleased with the repair...looks good, drives great, everything is functional. Just really pissed at the bonehead that thought they could turn into oncoming traffic and have me "magically" be able to stop with only 2 truck lengths in front of me. What an idiot!!!

So, update on the "Diminished Value Claim"...
Sent off my demand to the insurance company (the guy that crashed me) for $4,275.00
Got a reply saying they would not reimburse me for the appraisal cost, and offered to settle for $1,900.00. I politely told them to screw off. Got an attorney, and filed a law suit against the other guy. Waited the 30 days, and contacted my lawyer again. The lawyer then copied me letters sent off to the adjuster reminding them that they were in default, and they should either pay up, or take it to court.
Yesterday, I look in my mailbox, and see an envelope from my attorney. Open it up, and what do I see? A nice fat check for $4,500.00. Plus, the lawyer got $3,500.00 for himself.
So, the "squeaky wheel" does get greased, after all.
Just to recap...the truck only had 3700 miles on it, owned less than a year, original oil, mint condition. Total repair cost was nearly $6000.00.
Total paid out by the crasher's insurance: nearly $15,000.00.
Bottom line: Diminished Value is a real thing. :reddance:

Looks like it turned out good. As I read through this thread and see your accident details as well as the guy who had the tire fly up through the radiator I keep going back to the dash cam thread thinking how valuable would that be in these cases.
I think my mind is made up that I am getting a dash cam for both my vehicles soon.
