A case of tie rod wtf!?

So here's the deal. I tossed my lift in, new upper and lower ball joints. No messing around here. My tie rods were solid and my rack is on the chopping block within a year cause it's leaking I figured I'll save the money and do my tie rods then. Torqued everything to spec. I've donethis kind of work before no trouble. Go for an alignment a month later (I know) tell me I can't get it done my tie rod on the drivers side is sloppy. Lol I think my own fault. Go grab 2 new tie rods and slam em in. Back to the shop. Again my new tie rod has as much slop as the old one! It's solid and torqued to spec but it's slipping in the tapper! Wtf! Has anyone seen this before?

Did Toyota of Dallas send me the wrong lbj? Maybe a taco one? My passenger side is mint. I'm planning a trip in the bush and this is my last weekend to get work done before I go! I'm going to have to re-replace my lbj with a Moog or something instead of oem cause I can't wait for another one to be ordered in. Or am I just a dumb ass and missing something here???

Did you replace the inner and outer tie rod or just the outer

Taco OTRE work with a 4Runner LBJ. So that's out. However, a 4Runner OTRE would be very loose in a Taco LBJ. But you'd notice it when installing it. Where exactly is the slop?

Double check your invoice for part numbers to see what you actually got.

No a big deal to use a bobo LBJ to do a trip out. Just get it out of there sooner than later.

I just replaced the outer.

I think it might be a case of taco lbj and runner otre. I need to find that invoice! The slop is in the taper looks like the bottom hard to tell though. I didn't notice putting it in it sat in there nice enough and looked good no play when I wiggled. But that's not to say it wasn't holding on by a small contact that wouldn't hold under real life load like 1 day of driving. I know a shit lbj will survive a while but it feels like throwing money away! Such is life when you do you own work lol.

Great link. But it's not my guide that's the problem. My racks leaking where the shaft from the steering wheel meets the top side of the rack. It's not a must fix today kinds problem it's just on my to do list.

I'm just getting an over priced lbj from my dealer in town and I'll send the shit one back to Toyota of Dallas. They really didn't offer me any help with this problem. I'm really dissatisfied with their customer service. Guess you get a lbj at half the cost from them for just that reason.
