Going to disagree. Sorry, but the excuse for Toyota's engineers' lack of common sense and oversight doesn't hold water.
The climate control draws air under the windshield cowl, so unless the guy is routing a duct from his tailpipe to force the exhaust into the 4Runner's cabin, not much, if any, exhaust will get into the interior. Air gets into your interior when you're driving because the airflow over hood gets pushed in, but it doesn't happen when the car is parked. Even at low speeds, not much air enters the cabin.
Besides, IF your vehicle is parked in such enviornment where possible pollution can into the cabin through the ventilation system, wouldn't the bigger concern be sniffing more of it up while getting to your car than what could've gotten inside?
