I should probably start by saying I have made the drive from California to Nebraska more times than anyone that isn't hauling cargo for a living should probably ever have to. While this was the first time leaving from San Jose specifically, I wanted to really make this time different, I wanted to enjoy the drive, I wanted to see the things that you always drive by and say that might be cool to stop at sometime, and maybe most of all I didn't want to come back towing a trailer full of car parts or tools! I think they call it a vacation. Anyway here we go:

I snapped more driving back out from Omaha than in, but I'm getting ahead of myself in my story. There actually is some cool stuff there, I just lived there too long so i didn't bother to snap pics.

Thanks! Virginia City is certainly worth the drive off of the 50 if your in the area. I just wish some of the shops had less "my grandpa went to Virginia City and only got me this t-shirt" type merchandise.

Oh my gosh, thanks for sharing! Isn't Omaha's zoo great! I live here and have been there too many times to count and I still love seeing it!

I would still prefer to see the animals in a natural habitat I think, but there is just soo much to see there that you really can't go wrong. Any idea what they are planning to do with the space from the stadium?

Oh of course, I would much rather see them in nature as well. But I'm glad they build most of the enclosures the way they do.
Not too sure about the stadium area. I've heard there are works in order for the cat complex. Not sure if you made it that far into the zoo, but our cat complex is terrible.

Cat complex was closed while we were there. Actually the only animals we went to see that were in general area were the sea lions. We didn't have much extra time after the aquarium, desert, and jungle, I mean we only planned 5 hours there lol.
