I'd personally be pulling for a total because body work is never all that good and that amount of damage is never usually truly "fixed."
If I were you, I would buy the car back after it *might* get totaled and go buy another 4runner. Compare parts and see which ones are newer/better working condition and swap it all into your new runner. You can swap that locker into your new runner. Takes the hassle out of shopping forever for the "perfect" one, ya know? I am so sorry to hear about this man, I hate seeing beat up 4runners. Glad to hear everyone is okay. It could've been worse. Just take everything in stride.
Sorry but you can not just directly swap an elocker onto any year / type of 4Runner. It has to be a certain year onto compatible year swap.
Well, I got the call yesterday. My 4Runner is totaled. Estimate came to $5,900. They said my truck was valued at $7,375 and I could buy mine back for $500. By the time I got through bargaining with them I am getting a check for $7,100 and I get to keep my 4Runner. Not a bad deal considering I paid $5600 for it 4 months ago. I'm looking at a very clean 2001 Limited 4WD tomorrow. I am going to put my wrecked one on Craigslist and see what I can get out of it after I get my wheels, tires and lift off of it. I don't like the 01 limited wheels as much as the 99s. I may swap out the locker to the 01 if it's not too much trouble. I hate to see the old one go, but I'm looking forward to starting on the next one.
In paraphrasing your coach, reflect little on the present accomplishment in order to prepare for the future.
I think you did rather well. Post some pics of the new potential ride to see if it passes mustard.
YOU WILL MAKE MORE PARTING THAT SUCKER OUT!!!
I would buy some of your parts right meow!!!!!
Center Console for instance. and some more interior parts as well.
Let me know.
I'm considering parting it out. All of the interior is in great shape including the leather, carpet, air bags, steering wheel is perfect. I'll post it in the classifieds if I decide to part it out.
we'll be watching the classifieds...
BTW, who is your insurer, and how was your experience with them?
don;t know what your getting from insurance or how much to buy it back but my buddy was able to cover the cost of the buy back just by selling the rear end and trans.....everything else was profit....divided by time....

I don't think he'll have any problems making a profit![]()
