It is a 99 4Runner and will be Tara's grocery getter rig. She says I am not allowed to wheel it :(. Too bad I couldn't put the e-locker into the Heep, at least it would be useful there :p.

Got the signature rear 4Runner sag. May have to stick a coil spacer in there to remedy that ;)! Few other things to do as well.

Got to cutting out the passenger side rocker panel...

First things first, remove the running board. We were amazed the bolts actually came out :P!

Next will be to weld in the 2x6 tube to the angle and tie it in to the sill, then on to the other side

Thanks to Robert for your help, and to Rob S for dropping by for moral support!

Got the passenger side rail in :) !

After capping it and grinding it smooth(well almost smooth :P!), test fit it...

I still have to seam seal it, prime, & paint :)

...and on to the other side this coming weekend :P !! I will get the other rail prepped in the meantime I think...

Wow, nice work. with that amount of rust in the rockers, what is the rest of the under carriage like?

Not too, too bad. That is normal rot here because of our climate and all the salt they use on our roads in the winter. The plastic rocker cover over the running boards on the Limited keep the moisture there causing the rot to happen faster. The bottom of the rear door where the flare is attached does the same (not the dor itself, but the bracket the flare is attached to at the bottom.). I figured I would upgrade to someting thicker and stronger and easier than bending sheet metal and putting it in *(you can't find pre-bent rocker panels for these here :( ).

These rails are done on Jeep Cherokees ALL the time up here, for various reasons, mainly as rock-rails, and to remedy the same problem as I have here.
