Your hu is much like mine ((XM)) HD ...with the exception of a couple of minor cosmetic changes e.g., 'Grace Note', HOME button, the Blue app icon screen...etc. Has anyone spoken with the dealership about whether the 2014 thru 2015 headunits are built on the same platform i.e. is there reason that the late model 4runners cannot receive the 5.1 O.S. update using the flashdrive xfer method??

So i went along with the program and a few mins later it said to update now or later type of deal i think. I did so and wasn't paying attention to the screen but after a few mins i think it was done. Mine doesn't say anything in the history slots tho so i have my doubts.

There are three updates
1. The phone app
2. The headunit software/apps
3. The headunit firmware/os

The push you got was just for 1&2.

I am suspicious if the most recent 4Rs even need the firmware.

Ok cool, that makes sense. I tried looking to see what version was on the head unit but gave up after i scrolled down 50x on the screen with the legal info.

Thanks for posting the pics, I asked because I thought if you had the icon "destination search" in your Apps menu it would signify that you had the latest and greatest. If you have an icon that says "bing search" it means you are still on the old version of entune. I am unsure of the 2014+ layouts so I can't really comment. It should looks something like this Toyota.com - Toyota 4Runner. Did you setup your entune account at toyota yet? What kind of phone do you have running the entune app suite?

I know this from the Entune in our 2013 Camry is totally different than our two 2014 4Runners. Also Toyota's Entune website shows the 2013 and 2014 systems very differently.

The update I am referring to could only be done via Techstream.

Seems the Entune systems have been plagued for a long time. Lots of people having issues, maybe Toyota is finally starting to look into the issues more seriously.
Since my update back in July, I've had my system act up only once.

I love my 2015 TE but the Entune is absolutely the WORST voice recognition I have ever encountered. It sucks. I am going to install this update (just downloaded it) but not expecting any miracles.

IMO for what these vehicles cost, Toyota needs to get their shit together on this. Maybe they should hire the VR guys from Apple, because Siri blows the doors off Entune when it comes to voice recognition.

My Entune was updated to 3.2 at the dealer a few months ago. I've been trying the update to 5 with the flash drive and it's not working. Ugh....

I have repeatedly downloaded the app tonight, and it just plain will not accept my VIN. So I guess my basic Entune radio is not capable of using these apps. Mine came from the dealer with traffic and weather apps, but that's all beyond the basic audio and bluetooth functions.

It has its issues (both our 2014 entunes reboot reboot reboot reboot reboot reboot a lot) but it's way better than the 2013. The 2014 has better resolution, graphics etc as well.
