A question about rare hard starting

My 97 4R runs awesome for the 260,000 miles that are on it. It starts relatively easy and when warm idles right around 600 to 700 RPM's. I have not noticed any missing or anything else that would hint at a problem and no CEL's. The issue I have had, has happened a couple of times since back around August of 2013. The first hard start I had was after driving for about an hour to pick up a lawn mower. I parked at a Convenience store to call the seller of the lawn mower and he told me where to meet him. When I went to start the 4R it acted like it was flooded and would not fire. I tried holding the pedal to the floor and still nothing. After letting it set for a minute I tried to start it again, and it finally decided to fire but was at a very low RPM and with some pedal play it started building up RPM's till it was fine. I didn't have another problem for another couple of months. I backed up into the driveway after driving to town and had to run to the bank. Again the same scenario. It took a couple of minutes of cranking until the motor fired and had to build up RPM's till it ran fine. Not another issue since. I am thinking fuel pump. I know the PO replaced the fuel filter, but I don't think he changed the pump.
I would appreciate any input or thoughts. Thanks in advance. DWayne
