PA speaker w/o CB?
I want to get a cheap loudspeaker or PA speaker to put under my hood to yell at people. I was looking at options but it seems everyone uses a PA system hooked to a CB. I dont have much interest in a CB and was wondering if there is a speaker and a microphone that is an easy hookup and can give me the option to just work the speaker and talk through it. Can anyone help me out ?

Well I can tell you that every place I am aware of it is illegal to use them. Most people do not know it but it is even illegal to honk at someone unless it is to avoid an accident so you might want to check to see if you are going to be ticked for using a loud speaker.

Any unit that won't sound like complete crap is going to cost $150+ .. check out Whelen. Pretty expensive for a toy that will be used at most 3-5 times.

:,( yeah I sorta knew it was a crap question but the other day I had a bum all over my hood trying clean my windshield and I'd much rather tell him noooooo before he gets near me.

IT WAS RAINING, WHY WOULD I NEED HIS "SERVICES" WHEN MY WIPERS ARE ON!


But thanks anyways, and i guess it's just not worth it.

Since it also is a horn, I'm sure it would handle the bum. Just google '12 volt PA system' and there is stuff out there. You can also pretend you're an ice cream truck and drive kids nuts all over town.

I have this exact speaker on my truck. To be honest, the sound quality is not that great.
