A serious question… how to get rid of KDSS dummy light?

I'm going to Radio Shack in a minute to see what they have to help (or hurt) my situation. I think I'll figure something out.

This.........Antman's black tape mod is genius and a simple solution to simple problem!:eyebrows:
I just took a look at it and if your worried about it being seen then matte black vinyl ,rather then glossy electrical, cut to a small rectangle size to just block out the KDSS light would make it unseen to even the best CSI teams as the face is flat black . You can see where the warning lights are by shining a flashlight on it to see where to cover it when the gauge is out.

There have been guys doing led mods on gauge clusters for years...if your gonna take it apart, why not try to pull the led bulb/extend it and just let it light everything behind the cluster (mood lighting) and replace it with a different led and either leave it unhooked or connect it to your top rack light switch...

Fair question for someone who hasn't read through the post or familiar with my build….
First and foremost, these were my thoughts 2.5 years ago….
I wanted a 4x4 5th gen…. I wanted rear locking diff (had this in 2 previous Tacomas)… I liked the aesthetics of the Trail Edition as many do and spend big money to replicate…. I like that the TE came with wheels I really liked and that they were a good size (17x7.5)… I liked the crawl control feature, I liked the ATRAC feature, I could give a shit about the KDSS feature. Also, there is the fact that every dealership within 250 miles was getting very few Trail Edition trucks and nearly all had KDSS...
And then there is the fact that I NEVER anticipated doing the work that I have done to this truck, namely, suspension modifications. I had KDSS on and working back when I first threw a set of 2.5" Fox coil overs on the front and had no problems with it. Then I completely re-did the suspension and the Total Chaos lower control arms I run have no accommodations for the KDSS sway bar so ever since I did the install, I have been without a front sway. Shortly after I realized how much I liked the suspension setup and removed the rear sway since it had been "inactive" since I removed the front.
Now after driving the truck for over 2 years, doing some respectable 4-wheeling, and preforming a decent amount of work on the truck, I have learned a few things and changed my opinions. If I were to buy another T4R, it would be an SR5. My opinion. That is all.
No. Do my posts sounds worrisome? Re-read. I've had the light on for a while and still have my sanity. I worry about other things, like humanity's tendency towards self destruction and stupidity, not a dummy light on my truck.

LOL! Clears it up for me. Thanks. I just feel like it's an awful lot of work to go through just to cover up one little idiot light. I mean, you know the light means nothing because you no longer have KDSS. So, it's just a light. But hey, if it didn't bother you to pull the dash apart, well, okay!

I'd say it's not so much about the light and more about setting things right. It's more about maintaining Toyota reliability and ensuring that it doesn't create new issues. I'm with SoCalTrail, I would have bought a SR5 as well if I knew it would have caused such major issues, but we've both got so much into our current ones that it doesn't make sense to start over with a SR5.
Kind of sad that forums are a place to share knowledge and make things better, yet so many feel the need to coach and course correct. If we always did the perfectly logical thing we'd be more that content walking or riding our bike to work.
