A spin on DRL disable...

I want to disable my DRL, but not fully. I basically want to move the power of the DRLs from the headlights to the corner lights. Looking at the wiring diagram is making my head hurt, so I'm wondering if anyone has done this already?

I feel like all I'd have to do is re-route one wire to the parking lights relay...but I know it's harder than that. Here's the link to the wiring diagram too:

i was looking at this for a very long time. if you figure it out let me know. i'd like to put an led strip below the head lights in an "Audi like" fashion

the problem is that the corner lights are turned on by adding power, and the DRLs are turned on by adding ground. I'll have to add my own relay or something to make it work...or I could just use the switch like normal people:lol:

come on....SOMEONE had to have figured this out already?

...or do I have to be the ginuea pig for this one too....

i had my DRL module taken off, i don't miss havin' it back...but if there is a way to manipulate it via a switch...i'm all for that..ANYONE???

I feel left out of this problem!

okay so I got it to work, but it's not EXACTLY how I wanted it.

It was actually really simple...I'll post pics and write up tomorrow!

I completed my spin on the DRL disable. I started by disabling the DRL as per the 01-02 procedure (black/yellow wire). I then pulled out both corner lenses and cut the power lines going to each one. The harness side got tucked away and the light bulb side got connected to each other, and then to an IGN source (power on when igniton is turned to on) and walla! DRLs that activate the corner bulbs only. I also swapped them out for LED bulbs to keep the amperage draw to a minimum. I'll post pics tonight because my cam doesn't pick up the lights well in the daylight.

Nice work and glad you figured it out. How happy are you with your leds? Which ones did you get?

they're great! they have 4 LEDs in them and they click right into place. Not SUPER bright during the day (as you see), but enough to get the job done. Got them from AutoZone for like 6 bucks!

Good stuff. Just went to autozone's site and couldn't find leds but it looks like there is one 20 minutes from me so I will have to drop in there soon. Tired of running a stock bulb in one and a chrome amber bulb in the other. Looks so dumb so it will be nice to finally finish off the changeover to clear corners.

definately! do the DRL's too!

Looks good :bigok: I just noticed you don't have the clear corners! :wtf:

I'm one of the few who prefers the orange over the clear...something just looks odd about the clear corners...I do have the clear turn signals, though, and I like them

maybe I'm just weird...:fro:

Can you elaborate on this? specifically what wires were cut from the corner lights and what wires were connected together? Can you post any pictures of the wires?

If you disconnected the "harness" side wire and wired the lights directly to and IGN power source did you lose your turn signal/blinker functionality?
