A whole lotta replacing

Bought it with an oil leak. Man the fun of wanting to do things and replace things once. Went from replacing the timing components to replacing,

water pump
oil pump
head gaskets
valve job
Knock sensors
all the orings and gaskets required

took a picture of the head gaskets so you can see for yourselves.

was debating even going this far but now looking at everything, glad i took the heads off. Should be about a two week turn around with the machine shop.

What rtv do you guys use?

I used the black Toyota RTV, which is the Seal Packing 103 (FIPG). No leaks and it’s been a bit over 2 years

How many miles on the engine? If it is 150K or higher I'd measure the chain for stretching and possibly consider replacing the tensioner and guides. I have run into a the guides becoming very brittle when they have been left to "dry" too long after an engine tear down. Why I have no idea, it's really weird...

Definitely replaced all timing components.

how did you guys get the oring to stay in place for the bottom of the timing cover, oring that came with my set seems to be snug and pops out easily. any tricks??

I can't recall how snug or loose the oring I used was, but I put a little bit of vaseline on the oring to get it to stick to the bottom of the timing cover.
