Are these internal brash bushings? And what did their brass bushings replace? What's factory?

Yes the internal bushings that the internal shaft slides against are brass, according to safari, while the oem, and all other aftermarket racks use nylon bushings.

That would be a nice to have.. Did they make a noticeable difference as far as longevity and/or steering?

I guess if I end up buying this AAE rack, and they don't require a core, I'll have two OEM racks sitting around lol. I might just take one apart to document and see how and if it can be improved on. I hate that there isn't a good option for upgraded steering racks for those that are lifted with larger tires. I mean, a solid axle would fix the problem but that's a little extreme lol.

That's my next move. If you take the cost of new itre's, otres, ubjs, lbjs, rack, and control arms your half way to a solid axle.

Yeah I mean my original rack was garbage and felt absolutely terrible. I then tried two remanufactured racks which were also crap. So then I pulled the trigger on the safari rack and it is certainly much better than what I had. If feels pretty solid. It tracks fairly straight down the road. But I tightened the bushing on the driver side to make it tighter. As a result the steering wheel feels pretty stif. Honestly I don't think the 3rd gen has the best rack design though. I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they mounted it behind the control arms rather than in front.
