Which model? I would start by asking myself why do I want a 4Runner and how do I plan to use it. Based on what you say about your intended uses, a Highlander is probably your best bet. It will get you through the snow and light off-road, and is far more economical. As for 4Runners, your intended uses seem to suggest you do not need a TE. That leaves you with an SR5 or Luxury. If money is an issue or you do not need the options that are bundled with the Luxury, then its an SR5. If you need or really want those bundled options, then it is a Luxury.

Personally, I chose a TE with KDSS because I wanted a highly capable off road vechicle. It does everything I want on the road. It had no problem bashing around bad lands and dessert loaded with guns, ammo and passengers on a recent hunting trip (far better than my former F150 FX-4 when it was stock). Fuel economy, however, is the price for that off-road capability. Hence, my prior suggestion that you might also want to consider a Highlander.

the main thing i am buying a 4runner are 1. good looking 2. safer ( i dont care about those HII crash test results) cuz i believe bigger ,safer. 3. i have a baby so i have to get a bigger car than a saden.

Not a significant difference if he wants 4WD or 2WD V6. IMO

That's a good site! How can the dealer get away with posting the MPG I pulled from their site when it's that far off? I mean my wife and I were thinking of turning in her Camry for the highlander because she likes the 4runner but not so much the MPG so she would just get the Highlander to save on gas but if this is to be believed then we will have to rethink that for sure.

after done some research .. some people claimed the KDSS is not very reliable, such as lean problem.

did u experience any ?

:redbrick::ybrick: Yep, who cares if there are 4 equal size large SUV's and 3 get great safety results and one gets horrible results. Just get the one that got the horrible results, I'm sure you will be juuussst fine (and your family) in an accident. They are all the same size right? Should all be just as safe!

My guess is that they posted the figures of the 2WD 4CYL vehicle. When looking at buying the 4runner, I've looked at about every V6 4WD SUV available, and not a single one get significantly better economy than the 4Runner.
