? about the invoice

My expereince.

I negotiated the sticker price down from approx. 32.6K to 23.1k here in fair city of Houston TEXAS. It did take 6 hours of negotiating to do this.........not sure how it works across this great country....but the sticker or invoice prices are just a number to start the game off with in my opinion. The whole thing threw the Edmunds et all numbers out the window...but they were a good fuel form my fire....:) I also worked the extended warranty down by around 35%. Good hunting....and patience....:)

I agree Pitbull. I wanted to buy a used 2004 originally but to only save $3000 +or - with 30k on it I decided to go new. Can't beat new car smell. 2004 around here (KY) are pretty hard to find. That tells me people are happy with what they got and probably most likely there lease is not up yet.

It IS actually easy (wel, maybe not easy, but, at least straight forward) when you use the fleet/internet sales manageer.

I ordered Consumer's Reports $12.95 spec sheet for the 2005 4Runner (all invoice prices for cars AND options), including national and regional incentives and holdbacks.

I couldn't find the option package I wanted in the east coast (you have to go to Denver region to get the Sport optioned out). I found this package by putting in a Denver region zip code at www.toyota.com (buy a toyota area). I then asked the fleet manager to do a region trade (he gets a truck off the ship destined for Denver and Denver gets any of his they want). This is free, subject to both dealers being able to play well together and wanting what the other has. Most will do it, but many don't know they can.

I took the option package that most resembled what I wanted, plugged it into my consumer reports data and got the invoice price, rebates, holdbacks for my car.

I offered my local dealer $100 over my invoice plus another $100 "under the table" to him personally for going out of his way for the deal.

Finally, as a last check, a good percentage below MSRP for whatever 4Runner you decide on is 84%. If you pay 84% or less of MSRP for YOUR truck, you're doing well!

Of course, by the time I did all this, the 2006 teasers had come out, so I'm revamping and ordering an '06 using the same system.

Dave.
