That title is misleading. I did the VSC disable as described further down in the post.

I just did the Bagel Mod. Great instructions Beto! It works just like it says. I can deactivate the VSC when I want on the fly with a flip of the switch and reactivate it when I want without stopping or shuting down.

Here is the main harness I built for the VCS, I also made a 1 relay harness for the ECU as described.

Did you use 22 or 20 gauge wire for this then?
 
ive been looking around at how to disable ABS on my 1999 4runner that does not have the elocker wiring. looks like tapping a wire to add a switch would be just fine.

but can't i just unplug the ABS module when its play time then plug it back in before i get back on the road? id be totally fine with doing that instead of wiring up a switch.

I tested it out a bit on the road, havent been able to test on dirt yet, and i didnt seem to have any other unwanted effects. with ABS unplugged my speedo still works, brakes still work, theres no traction control so nothing there to worry about anyway.

would there be any other ill effects of simply unplugging the ABS module? its more easily reversible than pulling the fuse but not as much work or permanent as tapping a wire for a switch

I think I remember reading somewhere that this will work, it just won't be "on the fly." IIRC, you'll have to turn off the engine, plug in, restart. Keep us updated if you decide to do it.

EDIT: [MENTION=670126]DJRodriguez88[/MENTION] simply unplugging the ABS Actuator Module or removing the fuse might result in losing Speedometer functionality.

yeah I won't be doing it often enough to need it "on the fly", but maybe after a few times I'll get tired of popping the hood and I'll want to wire the switch.
 
Just wondering about an incident in the winter and what mod if any would work. Was driving down the interstate in whiteout conditions and the plows hadn't been in. The semis had worn deep grooves in the ice/snow, maybe 3" deep. Conditions worsened to whiteout and the ruts were filling in so could no longer see where they were. Semis were all going 30mph so was obliged to do the same. Was in 4wd hi at the time. Hit the side of the rut and it grabbed the wheel and did an instant 180 despite spinning the wheel fully to countersteer along with backing off the throttle. Started to spin the other way and of course continued to spin 180 in the other direction. Did this 3 or 4 times, taking up both lanes and both shoulders in the process, before it finally stopped. In retrospect probably should have stopped coutersteer long before straightening out. Either way it took a lot of steering wheel spinning to go lock to lock, very annoying.
There was absolutely no sound at all, just sliding on ice/snow. Don't think the ABS or TRAC or VSC even activated.
Any thoughts about a mod? Would at least like to preserve TRAC.

Yikes! sounds scary!! Glad you're OK. I'm not totally sure what you're asking. Are you asking about some combination of ABS/TRAC/VSC disabling that would have prevented you from losing traction in the situation you described? But you said these systems were not activated in this scenario. How could disabling any/all of them change the outcome?

ABS would only kick in if you applied the brakes. I really don't know much about TRAC or VSC so I can't comment on those.

Well had my hands full so might not have noticed. For sure when driving down washboard and things start to go south there is a loud beep beep beep but it doesn't happen on ice. Don't know if that is the TRAC or VSC. For sure it would have been bad with a semi bearing down behind. Don't know how he could have stopped.
Either way it would be nice to disable ABS and VSC but keep TRAC for offroading.
