ABS wire issue?

I put 5100s in a buddy's 5th gen. LF corner was a b*tch, got Brake, ABS and TC lights on. Swapped out the LF ABS sensor wire, and the Brake light went out, but the other 2 are still on. Will they reset, or do I need to check the RF wire too?

Hi gfluff,

You'll need to post more info for others to annualize the trouble. Please provide the year, trim level e.g., SR5, Trail, Limited... and why did you change the LF 'ABS Sensor', was it broken, frayed, shorted...?

Congrats, you are like the 50 millionth person to break an ABS sensor wire or two. In the future, remove the entire wire, 2 10mm bolts, 1 12mm bolt, takes like 8 seconds with an e-impact, 60 seconds with hand tools, before taking apart anything else.

2015 2wd SR5
After the lift, lights were on. I looked up info, saw that the 3 lights indicated an abs wire issue. I took a guess on it being LF as that shock caused some troubles...that took care of 1 of 3 lights. I should've tested the RF wire, but I didn't. Kinda hoped the 2 remaining lights would go off after a bit of driving, but not yet. From what I've read, there's no Brake light on, so RF wire should be ok...but I'm not 100% on that...

It might be a good idea though, to test the RF sensor/wire for continuity just because the both sides endured basically the very same treatment; so the otherside may have been damaged as well! ...just a thought...

Anyone think ABS + Trac lights on = bad RF ABS sensor?
I won't get to test it for a couple days, if I order a new one I can swap it at the same time...but the wire is not returnable, so if it's not that, I'm out $45. I appreciate the help.

I've lifted numerous 4th gens, an FJ, and a couple Tacos, and I've never had this issue, never killed a wire, and never disconnected it to do the work...darn 5th gens!! ����

Hi gfluff,

A-Trac, VSC and Anti-Slip Control all use the ABS system to accomplish the road stability safety feature so I would say "YES"... a Left or Right wheel speed sensor failure would more than likely affect the ABS + Trac warning light in the Instrument cluster!
