access for children

Hi everybody,

Thinking about purchasing a 2010 4runner limited with navi this weekend. My question is this: How easy or difficult is it to pop your kids (both in car seats-one is a newborn and the other is 2) in and out of the backseat. The door opening seems small-or is it just me? Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks

No issues here and for the older kids we have the third row and even with the car seats in place they climb through the center portion of the rear seat.

I have a 2yr old and 6month old. Access to the rear seats is excellent. The rear doors open 90 degrees, I have never had any issues getting them in and out.

i have a 10 month old and a 3 year old, so both front and rear facing car seats and i have no issues... i sold a subaru sti for my 4 runner so i may be a little biased when it comes to interior space... i will tell you if an adult tries to sit in the middle row in between the kids it's not the most spacious spot!! my wife has a honda pilot and it's our road trip car...

I have no problem getting my 4 year old forward facing in her booster - she can get in herself now, and I have no problem getting my 6 week old baby in while strapped to her rear-facing car seat. I will say that with my vehicle lifted, I'm not sure my wife could get the rear-facing car seat in as easily as she can in her Honda CR-V.

When we have a lot of people, my 4-year old fits comfortably in her booster in the 3rd row and can climb back there easily either through the middle seat folded down or through the trunk if half the 3rd row is down.
