Acknowledging other 4runners

Ive noticed something that disturbs me... almost everyone that ive seen posting on here has something bad to say about jeeps(myself included), however, Ive noticed that when riding in my friends jeep they always acknowledge one another. I have had my 4runner for about a month now, and have yet to see anyone answer a wave with a wave. Please I beg of you.... if you drive a Toyota Truck at all.... wave to your fellow yota drivers.... especially if your in a 4runner.... lets not let those little jeeps be friendlier than us:D

I was driving down the freeway a few weeks ago when I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a Pacific Blue 4Runner swerving in and out of traffic and finally pulling up next to me. He rolled down the window and waved at me. He had the exact same car, which I haven't seen many of, so that was cool. He got off the freeway after that.

well it sounds like there might be two of us.... im not trying to sound like one of those fanatics(maybe i am though).... just out of curiousity.... how many of you actually wave or honk or try to say high to your fellow 4runner owners(aside from this forum)...... maybe this would be a good poll thread, but since ive already started it without the poll, maybe someone else wants to start a thread with it

I always acknowledge other 4Runner's on the road. I make a special effort to catch up to other 4th generation runners. I always honk or wave. Most of the time, the other driver acknowledges me. Once, I was driving and not paying attention to the cars passing me. I look to the side of me and see a silver 4th gen SR5 and the guy is giving me a thumbs up. I then gave him a thumbs up and waved. I find most of the people are friendly. I also make an attempt to park next to other 4th gens in a parking lot, no matter how far I have to walk. The passengers with me do not appreciate it. It just looks so cool! :thumb:

I guess Michiganders just dont understand.... i think im moving.... not....
If anyone from michigan reads this.... expect me to (try to) catch up to you in my 88 and make an extra effort to say hello;):

the problem is that half the drivers in Toronto are soccer mommies who think you're harrassing them or men who are actually "conventional" drivers, not us freaks :D

HEY, I resemble that remark(to steal a line from garfield the cat):D :D :D

Back when I had my MGB it was a tradition that when one MG passed another they would exchange headlight flashes. It was a neat way to say hello, nevermind all the potential speeders we slowed down.

Dude, these aren't motorcycles. There is an unwritten rule amongst motorcycle riders that it's expected to wave to one another. But to do it for another SUV owner IMHO is just plain silly. Please no flames: we are ALL entitled to our opinion.

Also, IMHO I think it is really stupid to speed up and weave in and out of cars just to say hi. We have enough morons on the road driving like idiots, the last thing we need is more of them doing it to just say hi.

Also, I was never a fan of flashing that is: :girl: is okay. But seriously, my eyes are very sensitive to light, and I hate when I get flashed. Most of the time it's to tell me there is a cop around the corner; and while I appreciate the effort, I believe if you are speeding, and you get busted, then you deserved it.

Also, I am the kind of driver that spends so much attention about all around me, you will never find me looking into the cars next to me. I keep full aware of what is around me, but not the details of it: hence the driver. It's what saved my butt a few times: I hope that continues.

I do the same thing, but some of the rigs out there are not as friendly.

when i originally posted this thread it wasnt to ask people to speed up and say hi.... or to flash each other... the only thing i meant by this is that(and i assume by the forum dedicated to it) 4runner owners have(at least) a close following.... and maybe we need our own signal to each other..."its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" was started by someone that obviousley loved there jeep and thought other poeple loved theirs too.

I love my runner, I think all of YOU love your runners(or you wouldnt be posting on this site).... Im just asking for some friendly waving when you "PASS" another runner.... or even go as vague as anothert Toyota truck.....

I agree with Iman74 that we dont need to weave in and out of traffic, or flash our lights at each other, but come on.... a friendly wave?

I will continue to wave at other 4runner owners and hope that I will get a wave back.

I guess I am a little fanatic, but I think that Thai and the other moderators would agree with me that(as i said) this forum would not have been started if not for a love of "THE" 4runner.

It's understandable if you have to drive a 'Heep'. Other 'Heep' owners know your pain and have to share it with you. :D

I will wave at toys & jeeps but only if they are modded. I figure if theres a toy or jeep on the road that is bone stock he doesnt know what he's got. I will not go out of my way to wave. Usually a lift of the fingers off the steering wheel or the wave of a hand if the windows down. I get some waves but usually other drivers are off in their own world. I also will speed up to a lifted/modded toy to check it out but not get next to them drolling and waving. lol

i've done it constantly with my 94 celica. i tend to do it moreso with vehicles in the same generation though. the problem is 6th generation celicas and 1st generation 4runners are pretty rare up here. krashmytoy, i will be keeping my eyes open for you when i'm back on the better 1/2 of the state of michigan! (the western 1/2 of michigan is awesome, the eastern 1/2 is crap. i go to college in the eastern 1/2)

The muddy interior is still muddy, Mud is 4Runner's best friend.
Reiter is fun. I will not do it on my rig for now though. Until I get sliders and Mud tires.

I'm joining your Yahoo group. I'll go check out the pics at Wattora.
