Acknowledging other 4runners

This would probably look too :gay: but maybe holding up a hand with 4 fingers would work :)

This moring on the way to work (carpool -)...I saw an 04 Black 4Runner on the left lane...I waived to them...then they were confused while looking at me... Then, I realized I was not in my 4Runner, but another car instead...It was funny....:D the guy shake his head and drove away....I felt a little bit embarrassed, too.

LoL thats funny, I wave when im not in my rig but all my buddies have modded toys so I win either way. The funny thing is to wave at a modded toy and they dont wave back even though you know they saw you wave. I like to think of that as (they dont know what they got) due to the lack of wave. :50cal:

Manuel thanks for joining but (WARNING) the club sucks right now and is failing hardcore. I think I need to ditch it and start an all Toyota club. I guess it was just wrong of me to allow Jeeps,Sammys,Fords, and Scouts in.

I did that too. I forgot I was in my Mom's car while mine was being serviced. I also once waved to a 04 silver that had temporary plates. It was a woman driver and I was waving. It took her some time, but she caught on and started waving. Maybe she did not realize at first that I was in a 4Runner because mine had the cladding and hers did not.

Ive noticed today that most of the people in my town that own 4runners are in their mid to late 40's. Maybe I am being ageist(is that a word?) but maybe they just dont realize what they are driving.. also, being that I drive an 88(that kindof looks like a pickup from the front) maybe newer 4runners dont realize what Im driving....

I was thinking also of getting a sticker made up saying something like..... "Its a YOTA thing.... we dont want you to understand..." is that corny....

and finally.... my "wave" i give people is a modified hang ten.... with my hand on the wheel i lift up my pointer and pinkey fingers.... corny as well?

what do you all think

haha, the "it's a yota thing. . . . . ." would be hilarious. or "i'm glad i DON'T understand the HEEP thing".

i'm all about having a wave and a slogan (like the jeep one). i think the jeep one is an excellent way to show off what they're proud of. i'm proud of my runner, and would definitely have a sticker that showed that if we came up with a good one. maybe that should be another thread?

:whack: :girl: Hahahahaha!

Dude, Thanks for letting me join in, now I know who c\to call if I ever get stuck out there on the Central WA. Don't ditch it, lots of the other guys might still like the group. What you should do is make up a new group. WATTORA wheels with Jeeps also and Fords. Sometimes that is. I think Rob (WATRD) don't mind wheeling with whatever make as long as they are capable. As for me I'm fine as long as they can do the trails we do. For example Hummers would not make it where we went at Evan's Creek, that place is insane. I don't think full size rigs would make it in Tahuya as well. I like the size of our rigs. I just wish I had more money to get more mods done to my 4Runner.

Dude, she probably though you were some weirdo trying to make a pass. Remember, most women driving those stock newer or 3rd Gen 4Runners are either moms or just driving their husbands rig. Unless, she is an offroader who like 4Runners. I only wave to people who have at least some kind of mod to their truck. Oh actually I drop my jaw. Hahahahaha....

Did you guys know the 4runner was first designed and put on the market for females. They thought it would be a sissy rig (no offense to the ladies). I have never read that but was told that so dont quote me. Ben

Moms or driving their husbands rig? Interesting. I have an '03. I'm a girl. I'm not a mom and I don't have a husband. It's my rig and I'm damn proud of all the work I have done on making it a more off-road ready rig!

I dont know about the rest of the guys, but there is just nothing sexier to me than a women that can handle herself in the mud... I wish there were more females like you 4route

4Route, sorry if you posted them somewhere else but do you have any pics of the rig since you did the lift? I don't think I've seen the mudflaps either.

yep. but she's a rarity unfortunately.:(

I think that acknowledging other 4Runners on the road is great gesture but I also think how it is received is largely based on where you're at. I could totally see myself engaged in a friendly wave while in a rural atmosphere or perhaps a very small town. However, in big cities like here in Phoenix, nobody would be expecting it and would struggle with your intentions. Might think you're a little looney or something. One general rule of city life, the more people you cram into one area, the less friendly and more defensive they become with strangers.

Regarding the motorcyclist wave ..... I rode a Honda for 15 years and waved at all the other bikers, EXCEPT the Harley folks. They were always rude and conceited and NEVER waived back unless you also road a Harley. They're just jealous of the Japanese engineering I guess.

Enjoying the thread.

Arent we all just a little bit looney... Some people may even call me excentric(wait thats only if your rich) ok crazy:chnsw: :jump: :satan: :naughty: :gun: :jester: :gaptooth:

4Route, the truck looks great with the lift and running boards removed!

I'm a little curious though about the mudflaps and centercaps. They are hard to see in the picture but the flaps don't seem that much different than stock. What didn't you like about the stock ones? I was expecting to see some colorful JOAS mudflaps or something.

I never saw anyone remove their centercaps but have read lately that some people are doing this. Maybe I'm getting old, is this a new thing? What didn't you like about them on?

Thanks for the pic's and for answering these questions.

BTW did anyone find out if the exhaust is S.S.? I still can't find it in print.
