Acknowledging other 4runners

i've just started pre-empting it by giving them the finger first. most that i see riding in 4th gen. runners are all stuck up college girls who won't wave at you unless you can offer them booze or makeup.

Wow things have changed, it used to be booze or dru_s, now it's makeup?! Sounds like a cheap high maintenance date (how's that for an oxymoron)

When I had my Land Rover I used to wave at other Rangie owners - and it seemed like I would get a response about 60% of the time. Sometimes I would get one of those "oh crap you know me but I don't think I know you" waves, and they usually feel forced.

But I see so many Yota owners, and I know for a fact none of them know what they have. There's this one girl that has a 4th gen who is a freakin babe though... I wave to her... Usually don't get anything back... :boink:

Man I thought this conversation ended ages ago. With 124 posts there is no way I am going to back track to what I haven't read yet. But I will say this: yes bikers do wave, but what caused it I have no idea. To try to start something like this in this era to me is stupid and a waste of time. Also for those IDIOTS that speed up, cut traffic, show off, and anything else you do, you are a danger to the rode. Think about that the next time you want to do something stupid just so you can wave.

I've seen all kinds here in TX

I got my new Runner in March and was waving at every 4Runner I saw, with about a 10% WBR (wave back rate) heh. Most of them look blankly at me with the "what the hell?" look. The other day I pulled into a store right behind another 4th Gen and said "Nice truck" to the guy and his wife as we were walking in. He looked at me very confused until I actually had to explain to him that the blue Runner parked right across from him was me. He had no clue.

On the other hand, a few months prior, one of the checkers in that same store actually came out of the store to compliment me on my truck as I was leaving, that was really nice of him. And last weekend at the lake I pulled my boat trailer in next to a nice 2003 and the '03 owner and I both said "Nice truck!" at exactly the same time, it was pretty cool.

My '04 isn't modded, but it's the nicest thing I own and I'll wave at you if you wave at me... so don't save the waves for the modded trucks only :)

:iagree: I was driving last week and I saw a 4th generation silver Limited in the left lane. We ended up getting caught at the same traffic light and we were side by side. I looked over and gave a slight honk and a wave. The driver turns around and I realize it is an older woman. I wave again and give her a thumbs up. Finally, she opens her window and yells out Nice truck. I say the same to her and she apoligized for not realizing sooner. She didn't realize mine was a 4Runner because I had the cladding. We were riding side by side for around a mile and we would talk about our 4Runners at every traffic light we got caught at.

that's cool! if i tried that with any of the 4th gens. i see around here, i'd get my eyes clawed out, or they'd think i was trying to hit on them. :(

Maybe the 4Runner drivers of NJ are nicer, but I have not had any problems when I waived to other 4Runners. I usually get a friendly wave or a nod. The worst I ever got was someone not waiving to me. :dunno:

I came out of Olive Garden once and noticed a V6 04 SE Silver 4runner parked next to my V6 04 SE Silver 4runner. I thought that was respect :)

kimboy ... I always try to do that ... if I see another 4Runner, I always try to park next to them. :)

I do too. The only problem is I always look back because it just looks so good. One day I am going to get hit by a car or walk into a pole and have everybody laugh at me.

hahaha, I do that too. There's one other '04 in our parking lot at work, and one '03. I'll park next to them, and then walk for the door looking over my shoulder the entire time, I'm amazed somebody hasn't smacked me or I haven't walked into a car.

In my parking lot, there was an 04 silver sport and my 03 silver sport. I always parked next to it and would look back. I liked to compare the 03 and 04 looks and I just admired how great the 4Runner looks!

Not to hijack the thread, but what differences are there between the 03 and the 04 anyhow?

I waved at five 4Runners this morning but they didn't wave back. Maybe because it was still dark?

Mark, Next time you should honk first before waving that will definitely get their attention...:bouncy2: :bouncy2:

My 03 sport has the body cladding and my buddies 04 sport doesn't.

My 03 Sport does have the color keyed cladding but I bought it at the end of the model year after they slipstreamed it into the production run.

So I guess that makes mine a 2003.1.

I also bought mine at the end of the model year (September 2003). I think it is because my build date is 2/03 so t was built toward the beginning/middle of the model year.

I noticed the same thing, that I've gotten no "waves" from other Runner drivers while on the road.

Then again, maybe it's because I was driving naked with all my windows down singing along to Vanilla Ice at full blast...but still!

juist kidding...I will make sure to start the waving trend down kansas/missouri way.
