ADD functionality question

I am seeking information on the ADD of GEN 3 4Runners. Specifically, when the ADD is in disengage mode, is there any rotation of the shaft connecting to the transfer case? Do the front half shafts basically free wheel? Thanks to all in advance for any information and for your patience!

The CVs on each side always spin at the speed of the front wheels. The only disconnect is between the passenger axle and the front diff. The driver's side axle is still connected to the 'inner' part of the differential. The only part that 'free wheels' is the prop shaft back to the transfer case.

Hi there, I probably should have indicated why I am asking for the information in my original query. What I hope to do is flat tow my 4Runner. I know that others have stated that this should not be done and that the factory says NO. I am thinking that if I remove the slip yoke from the rear drive shaft and anchor it up, and make sure that the ADD is in disengage mode up front that the tranny will not be driven when the vehicle is towed. Am I on the right track? Thanks again for you input.

There is no slip yoke, 4bolt flange at both ends, I would remove the rear drive shaft completely for safety and damage control reasons, I guess you can disconnect it from the rear diff and put the tcase and Tranny in neutral, the front drive shaft will be disconnected, and the front CV's will freewheel, but for 4 extra nuts/bolts I'd remove the rear driveshaft if travelling any distance.

Thank you! I am still on the fence about flat towing or using a "dolly" for the front end, but in any event removal of the drive shaft sounds like the safest way to go.
