Addicted Offroad's 2000 4runner. Linked & Locked

So, for the record, the Land Cruiser coils suck ass. I couldn't even load up my pop-up without hitting bumpo stops on just about any bump.

Stupid question.....But did you use a Drop hitch that was low enough to accomodate your lift, and meet with the trailer tongue so that it sits level???

The reason I ask, I'm running the LC 8 wraps, and have a small pop-up trailer I plan on towing this Summer........I'm planning on getting a huge drop hitch so the tongue of my trailer sits level while towing.

5" Drop hitch and my trailer sits level, so yes. I also have a 10" one, but never need it.

After the axle flip and lift on my pop-up, not much drop is needed.

Went to Moab last week. Things went pretty well. I hosed an inner axle seal on the rear Diamond (not a big deal considering it has 16,000 miles on it. And, I managed to damn near rip my DS front link crossmember mount off the frame. Plain and simple is that it didn't have enough surface contact on the frame. That has been remedied.

All in all it was a good trip. Mainly scenic stuff except for a hot lap up Green Day. We ran Gemini Bridges on Thursday, Fins & Things on Friday, and Green Day out in BFE in about an hour on Saturday.

I towed the pop-up all the way there over I-70 with no issues at all. In fact, my buddy Brian has an 02' xtra cab taco 5spd and less weight and he had a harder time keeping up.

I also picked up a future project while I was out there. I'll need to fix and few things on it, but overall its a good base for a pickup style chassis already on a frame.

Oh, and I will post some pics tomorrow when I get to the shop. I uploaded them to that computer this morning, but didn't have time to post anything.

Well, I just got done with a tear down and inspection on the rig.

Turns out that the rear upper pinion bearing was starting to make some noise. Pretty sure that I hosed it when the inner seal in the Diamond let lose last month in Moab. This is the first chance I've had to get it up on the rack to take a look at everything really close.

While I was at it, the reduction portion of the crawl has had a crack in it since I installed it just above one of the bolt holes. One of those that you can't see when building it, but gear oil will seep through. :shaking: I have been band-aiding it long enough. Its just a very minor bleed type of leak, but I wanted it gone. So, I built a new crawl box for it.

The adapter and guts will end up in Hunter's rig anyway, so no loss there.

I have a few other projects I need to get handled on it as well over the next few days/weeks.

1. An actual gas gauge. (I still cannot get the factory gauge to work at all)
So, I ordered a Autometer for the Ford tank. I will still need to pull the sending unit and move the float arm back into the stock location.

2. Wire up the Air/Fuel gauge. The O2 is already in the exhaust, but it needs to be wired in still.

3. Swap back on the stock supercharger pulley. The 2.2 boosts too much/fast for DD use IMO.

4. A tire carrier of some sort. Its likely just going to be a hitch mounted version that I can leave in camp.

I am really wanting to get out to CA this year to run either Rubicon or Dusy. We'll see how it all goes at this point.

I just noticed you went with a passenger drop front axle? Shouldn't us 3rd gen'ers be using drivers drop like the waggy 44?

Also, do you have any pics of your suspension setup with the truck on the lift? I wanna see the details!

Yes, passenger drop. I run dual, gear driven transfer cases. No stock case here.

If you check the build thread here and on Pirate it will have tons of pics of the install and build of the suspension. The link is in the for sale thread too if you need it.

Liny- he purposely bought a 2wd so he would have less to cut off when he did the SAS and the reason he went passenger drop. At least that is what I remember from the times I drooled over his build thread. LOVE THIS RIG.

I am actually looking for another deployment so I can afford to link mine similar to yours. Not sure I want to go 37's I might stick to 35's but not 100% on that. Awesome truck and I wish I had a way to gather the funds.

:confused:A truck like that should only be Raffled off. $100 tickets sell them for 3 months promote it on all the forums and facebook. bet it wouldn't be hard to sell 205 raffle tickets. I'll take 2!:thumb3:

x2= wouldnt be surprised if he sold 2000 tickets. But just to keep the odds really good only print 300-500 tickets and sell for $100 each. Get the money you want for the rig, some extra for the shop or favorite Charity(good tax write off).

How about I sell 225 tickets at $100/ea to one of you?

:)

If I had it I wouldn't even hesitate to buy the truck. Great price for a very well built rig.

You have to admit it is a great idea. Probably the only way a lot of us could end up with a dream rig like yours as well by taking a 100-200 gamble.

***wait anyone know what a kidney is going for these days? I got two and only need one..LOL***
