Some more progress on the carrier.
I went back and forth about 10 times on whether or not to keep working with it. It was too far away from the body at first, so I decided to switch up the spindle design a little.
This is what we came up with before leaving tonight. Its growing on me. Its obviously a VERY similar design to the original bumper, just a little less departure angle. But we sucked it up as tight as we could get it.

Really coming to together now. We have a trick idea for the latch setup too as well as a spring loaded locking pin.

Getting close. A few more things to do before its pulled, welded, and painted.
1st pic shows the 1" diameter bolt that will eventually be a twist in T handle. Its sleeved with 1.5 x .250 wall DOM through the swing arm, and lower portion of the bumper.

I have been getting hit about the old rear bumper a lot. Here is the deal. I charge $599 for these on the truck when they are new.
They are heavy duty 3/16" and YES, you can tow with it if you can put the bumper on yourself. I towed my pop up with it all over the place. You will need to be able to fab and weld to put it on though. This is a WELD ON bumper.
I will take $300 for it as it sits. No, you cannot run the spare in the stock location either. So, if you run it in the back or on the roof you will be fine.
It was built for clearance on a rock crawler so it fits tight to the body as it should.

I can only build them physically on the rig itself for now. I am hoping to be able to have a bolt on rear bumper in the near future. Then a tire carrier would be later.

The T-handle is just a 1" dia bolt. So, when its unscrewed it just comes out of the bumper.
Its a simple design that works.

How many turns to get the T-bolt out? Any thoughts to a larger thread pitch?

Its only about 5 turns. No biggie at all. Its coarse thread already.
