Adding AUX Input?

I'm wanting to add an aux input to my 03 4runner (with JBL & OEM navigation). I know a lot of people are using the USA Spec adapter for Ipods, but what is a good option for just the aux input? Thanks!

I can't remember where I saw it, but it was within the past month or two. Someone makes an aux adapter that actually had both RCA and USB inputs. Even seems like the price was relatively reasonable in the $150ish range. Try searching for JBL aux inputs in general...the adapters shouldn't be 4R specific. Several vendors make/made standard RCA adapters...PIE, PAC, Blitzsafe, probably others.

This one isn't compatible with the OEM navigation. I've found a FM transmitter I'm gonna try out, based on the reviews it should get the job done at a lower cost. Thanks, and if anyone has any more info I'd still be interested.

Found the unit I was remembering. Grom Audio. Doesn't list the Nav units as being excluded...USB/iPod/3.5mm inputs all in one box.

GROM-AUX-TOY best describes what you are looking for. This just add an aux cable to your setup.

You are correct, it has a set of inputs for RCA cables which can be selected by the radio controls just like any playlist on the Ipod. I just got done installing mine about 30 minutes ago. I picked it up on Ebay for $119 w/ shipping.

In case anyone was wondering how the Grom compares to the USA Spec... I've tried both in my 2003 4Runner with OEM Navigation/JBL.

Unfortunately, the Grom didn't work at all for me. Weird, since there is a YouTube video out there that shows it working on my exact OEM head unit. I probably spent 8+ hrs trying to install it and performing troubleshooting steps as directed by Grom. I had the unit replaced, upgraded and reflashed Grom's firmware dozens of time... no dice. If you have the same setup as me I would recommend NOT getting the Grom and saving yourself a lot of headache.

Today I installed the USA Spec adapter and it was pretty much plug & play. Only took me about an hour and a half to completely install, run audio patch cables, etc. I had to set the jumper settings as follows in order for it to work:
1 - On
2 - Off
3 - Off
4 - On
With this configuration, it emulates a 6-disc changer (discs 1-5 are iPod playlists, disc 6 is aux).

It looks like the Spec-USA allows you to control the iPhone/iPod directly and from the head unit where as the GROM only allows you to control from the head unit. I only care about Pandora so it looks like the Spec-USA is the way to go.

The only thing that I don't like about the USA SPEC is that it uses a 10-pin mini DIN connector for the iPod. Ideally, I'd like to install a 10-pin mini DIN panel mount connector and run a patch cable underneath the interior paneling. That way, when I wanted to use the iPod, I'd be able to plug in the cable and go.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a panel mount 10-pin mini DIN connector anywhere to pull this off. Anyone have any ideas and a part number to match?

Guys, thanks for sharing all info, I just bought and installed GROM-CLR-TOY on my 2005 4runner with JBL one disk stereo, they got it on sale now for $45.99 and it does work great.
