Adio3x's Build/Pic thread.

Saw these at the bar and immediately thought of you, bro! Saw the beginning of your build thread again and laughed lol. We were both there ha ha. As far as the Groms go, man, I've been really throwing the idea around about picking one up. I used to ride sport bikes but have been out of it for a while. Having one of these would be fun and practical for what I do.

Sorry, I don't even follow what's going on in my own thread lol. Grom squad haha!

Get one! They're so much fun! Unfortunately for me, my chain broke off and slingshotted forward into my crankcase, cracked it, it's been sitting in a shop for the last month. It did what I needed it to do, great little commuter.

I'll be selling mine in the spring though after it's fixed, going Monster 821 :whoo:

I haven't posted anything new, Happy Back to the Future Day! Going back to 2009 and putting a TRD supercharger in the 10s, stock.

Quick little teaser: Decided to go for a new look in 2016! I'll be tearing into these and doing a IS 350 bi-xenon retrofit. A few other changes will happen soon as well! :biggrin2:

Also if anyone is interested, I've been slowly planning my summer for the past couple months. I'll be hitting Moab July 16th - 20th and then heading to Ouray for Summit. If anyone wants to come wheel with, hit me up for more deets!

*UPDATE*

So nothing has been really happening in my build reason being :biggrin1::

But anyways, I'll be heading out to moab again in a few weeks. Going to be hitting up moab before FJ summit again if anyone wants to meet up!

O yea I got those 14+ headlights on, using my factory 2010 harness, just using the low/high/corner marker at the moment. Thing was a PITA to install with the bumper still on, trim pieces are about 70% tight lol, but it works.

adio3x Did you also install the is350 projectors? If so, pictures of beam pattern?

I didn't get to do the retro in time, most of all my money is going towards paying off the Ducati & buying my first home! But now that I know how to get the trim on and off, taking off the headlights is a breeze. I'm already looking into it, also looking forward to what is in stores for side mounted projectors.

Looks good!! Still one of my favorites on here...

Thanks! I've never re-geared and now I'm running 285/75/17 trail grapplers, it's on my to do list. But I've never had an issue with the gearing and the weight, yes it feels like a cadillac, and it has a hard time finding gears at times, but I'm used to it. I can still pass up Prius-s in the fast lane with a little more skinny pedal all day. :)

adio3x now that you've had both 295/70 and 285/75 with stock gearing, which seemed easier to drive with? Did one size do less gear searching at certain speeds/incline?

Thanks in advance. Just trying to decide which size to get next. Regearing is not in my near future.... yet haha.

I think they're both pretty close, one's just a little wider and the other's a little taller. I'd like to think that the 285/75 is easier to drive with, both make the 4runner feel like a cadillac lol. I would say the 285/75 has had less gear searching at low hwy speeds.

HaHah Cadillac time.

Heres the mount, its a Diamond K400 base, I just ran the firestik coax from the gate into the pillar, down into the jack door, up to the front seat. Its not clean, but its gets the job done.

Did you have to ground your Diamond K400 base or does it ground into the hatch using the set screws?

Getting ready to order a Hefty fab rear swing out and was wondering if the bumper came with slots to mount your rear license plate there or did you have to drill into the bumper once it came? Curious to see how it is mounted! Thanks so much love your build!

I've been MIA from the forums lately, been working a ton on my new toy.

So I'll just make a timeline of things that have happened.

-Got a Tepui Ayer last September. Perfect size and weighs less than 80 lbs.

Frenchies love it.

-Replaced my shatty bilstein 5160s after a fight with toytec/bilstein, decided to go with Metaltech Icon 2.0 LT shocks with MT LT progressive springs. I like this setup, but I like the ride a bit better of my old 896s.

-2014 tails & 285/75/17 Nitto trail grapplers

-Toyota Lone Star Jamboree, always a blast!

-Picked up my new toy! 2014 Honda Grom

-Tacomaworld Anti-Dark Group Buy

-How my Grom sits after owning it for 2 months. I might love this thing more than my 4runner :wow2:

-Going wheeling this weekend, starting to plan another big trip out west for 2016. I really want to do the Kokopelli Trail - starting in Colorado and ending in Moab. ARB rear locker, new compressor, dual battery & the ARB kegerator with tap drilled into the hatch is on my to do list lol.

They make a little license plate bracket that's connected to the swing out, it also comes with a led for the license plate. No drilling or anything required.

Thanks! And do you remember what shackles you have on the back of the bumper?

It has been a long long year and I'm back from the dead......literally. Long story short, I was in a really bad motorcycle accident back in November, compressed and fractured 2 vertebrae. Had to wear a back brace for about 4 months and do a bit of physical training. Since then I've neglected the 4runner, but that has all changed recently! Prepping the rig to get back out on the trails & I plan on attending overland east with some new goodies!

But here she is! I'll make a more in depth post about what has changed, but for now, enjoy the new color (wrapped it myself with a friend), it's a little different then the cement TRD Pro color, battleship grey + Safari Snorkel!

Can't see the picture unfortunately :( Photobucket stripped out all third party hosting. Glad you're doing better.
