adjustable panhard bar

I recently got the panhard drop bracket and ever since my driveshaft has been hitting my gas tank a LOT. It happens with very little flex in the back which doesnt seem normal from what i have seen on here. I had a shop look at it and said the only way to fix it was getting the adjustable panhard bar. What do you guys think?

Your gas tank, or your gas tank skid? If it's just hitting the skid, and you want a cheap and easy fix, just cut off the gas tank skid where it's hitting. That's what I did.
 
I already did that and now its actually hitting the tank. Its actually dented it and scratched it up pretty good but no punctures yet...
 
I also have the Sonoran bar. No scratches or contact with the gas tank skid yet. But I think my rear end is only lifted about 3" or so.
 
Post a picture of the bracket on the truck. I've never heard of the bracket making things worse so i would like to see how its installed.

ill try and post a picture tonight. I did watch the shop weld it on and noticed they welded it while the entire back end was jacked up. are you supposed to weld it with the wheels on the ground maybe?

and i have 3inch ome coils in the back with 5100 bilstiens

If they did it with it in the air and the bar bolted to the bracket, then it won't be aligned properly.
 
Yeah the bracket itself should be perpendicular to the ground. Sounds like Steeze might be onto something. If they welded it while the vehicle was in the air and the bar was attached the geometry is going to be all off.
 
When you list our rigs and use the stock PHB, the axle will be pulled to the passenger side. A drop will lower the PHB and recenter the axle but,as said, the drop must be vertical. I have mounted a few and some required the factory mount to be ground down a little, usually the original welds, for the drop to sit correct. Also I always do this without the PHB mounted.

An adjustable PBH is usually used to lengthen the PHB so the axle will be recentered at the new lifted ride height. Since it is now longer, some have stock gas tank skid contact. If properly adjusted, and maybe some skid adjustments, there should be little contact.

In your case, stock PHB and a drop, you could fix the rubbing with an adjustable PHB but you would need to adjust/build it shorter than stock.

Steve, at Sonoran Steel, and I discussed the clearance issues and my replacement skid maximizes this clearance. Since you are rubbing your tank itself, you need to pull the axle to the passenger side.

Take a long level, park on level ground, hold the level vertical at your rear tires. Now measure the distance (the gap between the level and the tire or fender). This gap should be close to the same. If anything, the axle slightly to the passenger side.

I'm not understanding what you are trying to say here. Can you elaborate? I have an adjustable PH too so I'd like to check.

He's saying stick a yard stick against the tire and see how far out from the body it sticks, obviously the ideal situation being both tires stick out the same amount.
