Advice sought for the likely cause of premature front right tire wear (11k miles)

My question: Is there a setting to pay attention to, that makes the car feel "settled" on the highway? I don't know if I'm trying to describe a darting tendency, or if it doesn't want to return to center as quickly as I'm used to. I know it is a short wheel base truck. The Camber settings were the closest to the limit... will an adjustment there change the steering feel?

caster and toe can cause that.
also the tires themselves.

Firestone shows the acceptable Caster range from 3.8 deg to 2.3 deg.

Caster on my 4R is 3.4 deg left and 3.3 deg right.

Tires are Hankook Optimo727s with 10,000 miles.

If you were to try something different, would you adjust Caster, say to 2.6 deg or so?

i wouldnt go lower, higher would be better. but, its in spec, so i doubt thats the problem.

there are other things that could cause that. is there any play in the steering?

do you have another set of tires to bolt on? i bet it would drive better/differently.
i have no opinion on those particular tires, i just know that tires cause a LOT of driveability issues.

OP - any update? ... Only the toe was adjusted, no change to Camber or Caster?

Do you have a picture of the front eccentric cam in situ?

Update:
Today I had to replace the tire with the spare because it was worn to the belts on the outside edge.

I still haven't found anything wrong with the ball joints or the tie rod ends. Sigh.

Long ago, I had opened a separate on how to check the toe at home... but, much to my sadness, it only got one response so it wasn't all that useful to me. I am still confused about exactly what tools to buy to check the alignment at home.

In the hopes of finding someone to help advise, me, I opened a second thread today on how to check the camber at home; hopefully others can offer good advice because it's confusing to me as to how best to measure the angles at home (and I don't trust the alignment shop because of my history with Sears and Goodyear on them not doing alignments right).

LONG TERM UPDATE:

I had forgotten to update this thread with the photos showing that the alignment for the camber on the front driver side wheel was way off, and positive ... which was causing the tire wear.

Here are some pictures taken while the 4Runner was on the Hunter alignment machine.

Here is a closeup of the eccentrics for the passenger side versus the drivers side.

Notice how much more the passenger side is moved based on the nail polish I had placed on the eccentrics prior to alignment.

It has been a few years since I logged in, but I just wanted to update some of my threads, with the good and bad.

This one repair was a good one!

1. The new shocks are working out just fine, and,
2. After the new shock and alignment, the oddball tire wear disappeared.

The car still has the original ball joints, so, the problem was most likely a bad alignment.

I'm due for another set of tires, so, I might research the alignment threads again, to try to align it myself after I put the new tires on and balance them.

I realize only about 1 person in ten thousand does their own alignment, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't still love to try to align the car myself.

I figure the worst thing that can happen is that when I have the alignment shops check ny work, after the fact (they do the checks for free out here), that they have to redo the alignment I did myself.
