Hey guys! Are there any aftermarket producers of black trim parts like grilles, emblems and tailgate trim? I checked ebay and got nothing but chrome. I am new to the 4runner scene. I had a 96 VW Jetta and I am used to there being a huge aftermarket following for parts. I hope there are some companies that have these parts rather than buying parts from a salvage yard.

Almost every member here with black trims had painted the original chrome or like in my case ...got some chrome trims/inserts and painted them black.

I painted all my trim pieces last year. They are still holding up good.

Permanent Solution: Paint
You can't powder coat plastic....
How well would paint hold up? Bout as well as everything else that's painted on your vehicle. Body, bumpers, trim, wheels, etc.
Paint is surprisingly durable if it's applied properly, and you aren't directly beating the piss out of it with sharp hard objects..
Something I haven't tried yet, that may work well if you do decide to paint. Is to follow the normal procedure for spraying the badges with plasti-dip, but instead of peeling the excess off from between the lettering, peel off the actual letters, and use the remaining dip on the body panel as your paint mask.
