Aftermarket Fuel Tank Skid

... I don’t see where fuel quantity in the tank makes any difference.

Some aftermarket fuel tank skids use a fuel tank bracket bolt for support in addition to the OEM skid bolts. You have to support the fuel tank and remove this bolt to install the skids. It helps if it is empty and light, otherwise supporting it gets complicated.

So for those that have the BudBuilt Diff skid plate, your thoughts? I hear a lot about gas tank dings but I don't really hear much about diff skid plate dings.

C4 gas tank skid = 62 lbs. Yikes. Hefty Fabworks is aluminum but does not show weight on the website.

Good question...I wonder if the fuel tank sits lower than the diff, other components.

I don't think it does, I think the rear diff is the lowest part of the vehicle. However, the gas tank may be the most likely to be dinged as usually in most instances the tire is going over the highest rock and the gas tank is closer to the tire than the diff.
