Aftermarket headunit

While the Scosche kit looks more like stock, I prefer the clean lines (and area to mount switches) of the Metra kit. The bevel around the screen on the Scosche probably works fine for units where the screen is only the size of the double DIN, but I think it would just look weird with an 8+" screen there.

For those who've had both, did Scosche or Metra fit into place and stay without rattle better or was it just a cosmetic decision? No many places carry the Metra kit (not even Crutchfield), so I might have to special order it if I want it.

Also instead of having the trim painted to match the other panels has anyone tried some 3M vinyl wrap instead? I was thinking the brushed aluminum to see how well it matches the trim piece above the glove box. Would love to see pictures if you have it!

I was definitely in the "clean lines of Metra" camp until I saw it in person. The plainness of it makes it stand out as a "this has been modified" feature. I thought I'd hate the Scosche kit, but the audio shop insisted that it would look better than the Metra after it was painted to match the interior and I think they were right.

I tried 3M vinyl wrap and it delaminates if the interior gets too hot. Audio shop said they have that issue with it a lot, so they shy away from using it.

I don't know, but any reputable body shop should be able to give you it. I do know that it's a 3-stage paint:

1) Base grey
2) Metallic sparkle
3) Clear coat

Dupli-Color EBCL01257 Clear Perfect Match

A couple of coats of gray plus some clear looked pretty good when I did it, but I haven’t installed it yet.

There's an adapter that allows you to connect the backup camera to the head unit. Can't remember if it came with it or if I bought it separately though.

I had a body shop paint it for me. It's a 3-stage paint job.

1) Dark grey base
2) Metal specks
3) Clear coat

Yes I bought the Maestro iDatalink as well. I didn't change anything else.

Just had a Kenwood installed and my setup looks just like engineer's. So happy with it and the iDatalink Maestro setup. Best aftermarket integration I've ever had in 4 cars.

Did you have an OBD2 connector that you plugged in during the install?

Yeah the OBDII was plugged in and connected, it only has one wire coming off of it and is plugged into the Maestro, my head unit is a Alpine ILX-207

Hmmm. Then you have the same setup I do. The readings didn't show up right away, but after a short drive the gauges were populated and popping. Have you upgraded the firmware for the Maestro?

Same thing happened to me. No tire pressure gauges and then started working after a short drive. Have not updated Maestro firmware since I installed it about a year ago.
