Aftermarket Powered Running Boards For Limited?

Just bought a new 16 Limited and had the dealer add powered running boards... problem is they cannot locate any powered running boards for The Limited... I scoured the internet as well and could not find any either... They claim they cannot order the factory ones for aftermarket... they can only be added to a new vehicle at the Assembly Plant...

I guess they are going to need to refund me the purchase price unless someone on here has an idea of where the dealer could get a set... The amp performance ones do not work on the limited for some reason?... Any insight?... Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly the super smart people at Amp research only used a Trail model for fitment. I don't know, but just guessing the compatibility issue is the low hanging rocker panel on the newer Limited models (and older LE and SR5). To get them to fit you would probably have to replace the rocker with the trail version, that would create other issues of course.

I think you are out of luck if there is no way to add the factory ones to your limited. I mean I'm sure it can be done somehow at some cost, but the dealer probably has no clue and I don't recall seeing anyone on here do it.

Your dealer took your order without knowing he could do this? Nice ... "get the order, screw the details".

In the long run however, you're probably better off. Of the very few posts I've read on here, these seem to be problematic.

I'd certainly not want aftermarket! This is one of those options (even oem) that I'd not want to own out of warranty.

Yup. Thats correct. They only used a Trail for fitment. Brilliant. The rarest model. And then they complain about low sales. Dealer here in hawaii said the only way to get power steps after the fact is thru the parts dept. I checked. The parts were about $4000 and the list was still not complete.

It was a member on here that Amp used to test fit and it was a 10-13 Trail, so it was dumb. Fortunately for them Toyota changed the trim so the SR5 and Trail had the same rocker panels from '14 on, which is identical to the 10-13 Trail, they never fit any Limited. OP got hosed by dealer...

So, the dealer is swapping me out for another new limited with the Factory running boards already installed... Kind of a nightmare, as the leveling kit was installed already...not to mention they have to buy back the deal from Toyota and I've already made a payment on the damn thing...paperwork hell!
