Aftermarket Radio Install with stock JBL amp & sub

I am installing a pioneer double din radio to replace the stock JBL (nonRDS) and i have my own sub and amp combo from my car i am also installing. What do you recommend i do with the stock sub?
1.) leave it alone and connected
2.) spend the hour to unplug the sub?
3.) ...?

If you're already going to be hooking up your own amp, you'll be bypassing the factory amp and everything connected to it. So unless you want to yank it out, you can just leave it as-is.

if i kept the stock radio where would the signal for the sub come from? would i remove the wall where the stock jbl sub is and have to run a line converter from high level to amp pre amp?

Are you keeping the stock mids and highs or replacing those also?

keeping all but the radio, running signal and power to dedicated Rockford Sub amp. I guess im just curious if i should bother with trying to disable the stock sub for the oem jbl system? or just leave it in place.

I guess really the only way to disable the sub would be to disconnect the speaker wires going to the jbl sub from the amp as i pretty sure there is no way to disconnect it at the wiring harness that you will using to install the head unit. Me personally i would leave it hooked up, i doubt the jbl sub is going to interfere with the sound coming out of your rockford

If you aren't using the stock sub and amp, then I vote for removing them. They are useless weight at that point and take up valuable space where you could put the new amp, distribution block, line out converter, and part of the sub and enclosure.

here was my solution: (install all this, and adjust the crossover for the front and rear speakers to reduce the low frequencies that the stock sub would work from.

• Mictuning USB Car Charger and Audio for Toyota

So a side note: when i placed my order for the Pioneer it kept trying to recommend a different interface box, yet i would loose all the fade options on the radio. Now not a huge issue, but on my motorcycle i lost the same control and it bugs me just enough to make me annoyed. So i went with the 2nd recommended Accessory install pack and it worked out great.

now my next step is figuring out why the previous owner glued in the spoiler brake light and then hide the camera wire nicely.
