Aftermarket radio problems

I have a aftermarket Kenwood radio, I don't know the model because it won't power on. I had the car for a couple of years. The speakers were fine at first but recently they started failing one by one. Then just a couple days ago the radio won't power on what so ever. I've checked the checked the #17, 18 and 28 fuse. They seem to be fine.

On a side note the horn also stopped working recently. I am not sure if that is something connected or just coincidence.

Is it possible for the 140a fuse to only cause a couple things to fail?

Where should I go from here?

I would take the radio out and check for continuity. It seems there is a pattern when you stated the speakers started failing one by one. Could have scotch lock adapters and losing continuity or bad connectivity with the wires. It’s not that bad to take it out, I’ve done it way more than I would have wanted to the last few months. Actually much easier than I thought.

If it’s something you haven’t done before there are YouTube tutorials and instructions out there. If you need, PM me your email address and I can email you the install instructions I received from Crutchfield when I got my new head unit in. I actually didn’t use them because I’d done it plenty of times before but they are very descriptive. I tried to upload the file here but it won’t let me.

Over the weekend I bought a metra access toyo harness. Wired everything up still no power. Tested just the radio with the black to ground and red/yellow to positive, powered on fine. Checked fuses. How do I check the factory wiring?

Guess it depends how it was wired in. Mine for instance has the patch cable I got from Crutchfield which I wired the radio to. Then that plugs into the factory harness. If that’s the case, unplug the harness and use your multimeter to check for power. If you have power there then you know it’s the connections. If no power then you have issues before it.

whatever you do, don't use those connectors like in the post above. Solder the wires together. If you don't know how to solder, please learn and practice. You will save yourself so much headache not dealing with t taps or butt connectors.

Can you send the link to the harness that you bought? Looks like you only utilized 2 pigtails to splice into directly for the radio harness, where does the 3rd pigtail splice to with the green, black, and white wires on the right of the last picture?
