Aftermarket Skids on 2014

The three most popular brands I can think of for our generation are Budbuilt, RCI and Shrockworks. Probably can't really go wrong with either, but check out their websites and see which style tickles your fancy the most.

ARB Skid Plates
TRDParts4U list ARB skid plates for 2010-2014.
ARB part number 5421110 for KDSS.
Part number 5421100 for non-KDSS equipped.
I just recently upgraded from a 2011 SR5 to a 2014 TE Premium.
I had a set on my 2011, and haven't had a chance to get the installed onto the new truck yet. Once I do, I will get some pictures put up on the site.

I only have the front rci skid right. Really easy to install and looks great. RCI's josh is great to work with. Drove up to his shop and he worked with me on what I need. I believe they also have most others beat on price.

RCI's skids are great. Less expensive than others but just as strong (in my opinion) as they are also 3/16" steel. The took some hard hits in Colorado this summer and did great.

They should all fit from 2010 on. Frame, cross members, mounting holes have not changed.
ARB's skid plates are light duty, don't get them if you plan on rock crawling. The rear of the trans skid also interferes with the exhaust, so you will have to do some modding right off the bat.

I did not. I did several coats of rustoleum and sealed them. There's a couple threads showing what the process is. I can't remember right meow.

I have the ARB's and wouldn't recommend them. The fit is terrible and the aluminum spacers make removal/remounting annoying. I also had to add larger washers because the flanges on the bolts provided are barely large enough to avoid slipping through the mounting holes. As [MENTION=78273]Jeremy556[/MENTION] said, the Trans skid is too long and interferes with the exhaust. I just decided to leave mine off for now since the Trans sits up pretty high anyway.
Don't be tempted by the bargain price of the ARB. Spend a little more on Budbuilt, Schrockworks, RCI, or Ricochet.
I plan to abuse these for a while then upgrade.
Yeah, I see what you mean with the trans skid being too long. The weird thing is, on my 2011, I didn't have a problem with it. No rubbing, no problems. Since I moved them over to my 2014 Trail Edition, I noticed the rattling and saw that it was really close to the exhaust.
To remedy this, I just put a few washers in between to "space" it down a little bit. I already had the ARB skids from my 2011, so I will go with those for now. "Run what you brung" type deal.
I will eventually upgrade to something else. But for now, I have these. Thanks for your reply.

I have a full set of steel RCI skids on my 2014.
Unfortunately the front KDSS skid plate leaves a lot to be desired. I happened to bend it in Moab and it wasn't even on a hard impact. I don't care for the lack of support where the stock one mounts just behind the leading edge.
I think I would go with bud built if I had to do it all over again.

[MENTION=77370]Gabex35[/MENTION], I'd like to see a pic of the damage. I have the RCI front skid, but have not been wheeling yet since I bought it. I do agree that the front looks a bit unsupported, but I would think 3/16" steel would be able to take some hits.

I don't have any photos and I'll be away from my truck for the week. It basically pushed up and back the front left corner (where the flat plane begins)

Wow! You should let Josh know and perhaps he can fix his design. The non kdss ones I have on my LE have taken tome big hits. Nothing wrong with the fronts for mine. For me the exhaust cutout is the weak link. I've spaced it twice since I've bashed it really hard and gotten exhaust vibrations. Not a big deal though. I just slap in some heavy duty washers and head back out to the rocks!

So there's nothing between the front KDSS skid and the cross member that supports (the front of) the front diff? That should be addressed, as that is one of the most likely areas to encounter serious stress.
The two mounting tabs to the sides of the square stock don't give a whole lot of strength. The ARBs have similar tabs in the same place, which I bent into /\ shapes on one gentle encounter with a rock.
